just like anything else.they make good hp,but no torque.they also only make good hp in the upper rpm.i have friends with tuner cars.don't get me wrong I like them, but it cost's SOOOO much money to get them to run good..my friend has a wrx sti.he got in my supercharged hornet"sold it years ago".he thought his car was fast"LOL".i had 33x21.50 mt sportmans on it.we were doing about 40mph and he said punch it...when I lit the rears up for about 100ft,and doing about 80+mph,he was like HOLLY CRAP!!!without lowend grunt the high hp numbers don't mean crap!!!

now the turbo cars are fast but the turbo lag sucks!!!unless you build it right with 2 turbos.one to spool up at low rpm,and the bigger one to make some serious boost.i was only running 6lbs of boost with my vortec supercharger.the motor didn't need the boost at the bottom-end.it helped in the middle and top though..i use to run NOS..the only thing about nos is it only last for about 2 minutes..then it's of the get the bottle filled and fork out another $50-$75..the extra hp was nice but it was too hard of a hit.if you used it right off the line,i would just smoke the tires.wait too long, and now you just have to shift.....I have also seen some B.A. tuners out there running in the 9 second mark.they leave Reall slow but make it up in the top end.

my experence was chevy. big blocks had a 396 425 hp stuffed in a 69 z28 t ten close ratio 411 gears open chamber heads headers 2 and a half in exhaust with dumps. this was in the early 80' s
what a beastmost of all my friends were gm as well my best friend had a 69 road runner duel quad hemi. i was getting him in the 1/4 with my gearing. haven't had a muscle car that had performance for a while. i do have a 67 fury with 59.000 on it. and tucked away in my garage is a 1967 chrylser 440 open chamber engine 727 trans. hoping to some day put this together.
thanks for the info on your experience. Can't beat the sound of a big block though

Reading through this thread I read the words magazine and unbiased in the same post several times. History has shown us that this is not the case a large % of the time. You can hope for the best and it may be but it also may not 100% be if a magazine advertiser or possible advertiser are involved. They may be better about this today but in the past, not so much.

Ok let me sum this up, The bottom line is this; there will always be faster quads than the TRX 250R ($10,000 banshee motors, high dollar four strokes, unheard of garage built hybrids, etc).. It all comes down to the TRX 250R is the best balanced, most capable, desirable, super easy to make ridiculously fast, track machine, drag bike, dune shooter and trail blazer out there!

Now, any questions? ;)

I could make the date and location but, I'm sure most (dirt wheels included) don't want to see a stock bore 450R 4 "poke" beat a big bore 250R 2 stroke...especially a 3 wheeler...lol[/QUOTE

What is he talking about?

Well said.

Pretty sure I was accepting the challenge put forth in the original post!!!
Don't even need the DirtWheels shoot out, come to the March ATC Nationals and run the 450 4 strokes, let's see them run against a couple of well built small bore 2 stroke ATC250R's. I will bet even Tom's little 250 will run with the 450 4 strokes, let alone Dave's 330.

No need for a BDT Sphynx 363, these two will be more than plenty. All in fun...:)

I personally rode Dave's 330... Better bring something bigger ;)

I want to clarify that I in no way ment any disrespect towords Dave's trike or its engine. It ran very well. In fact in my opinion it is too much for the stock chassis. I have also gone up and rode other big bore 250Rs and they could not match my 450 either. Nor can CR 500 powered trikes. So that is what I was trying to get across. Nothing against BDT/Carlos.

Been on this site awhile i always see postings of i can beat your 4 stroke with my carbed stroked and ported 2 stroke. and no one posts if the 450's they want or did beat up on had any engine mods besides an exhaust. i have 3 450's with engine mods but i don't know how they would do against any 250's as i don't get to race against any pound for pound. Sure you can build any bike to out perform the other. So putting builds of compreable value's 450 vs 250 would best determine the outcome. Now don't get this all twisted and through stones at me. its just a fact.
