Im in the middle of building my 04 trx450r. The 04/05 450r came with kickstart only so they're the lightest of the bunch. Im going for the sleeper approach. It will appear stock when Im done. Im only increasing the engine size 50cc to(501) and with carefully chosen parts the quad will make 65hp/40+trq on *PUMP GAS*. I will post dyno sheets once its done.

I find it hard to believe to get 65 out g a 501 with a "sleeper look" the ltr I posted about is built head to toe and he only got 65 on race girl and that's dyno'd and tuned not just made up number. High compression, valves cam big bore drag pipes dynod with 3 different fuels and. Not calling you a liar or trying to crush your dreams lol just being realistic

Um pro mx 450's make 60-65 hp all the time. And thats with the 450cc limit.

Check out the dyno room for yourself on the org. Demon has a 480 making 67hp and a 500 making 75hp. Whats so hard to believe? These are facts. You have no idea who your speaking to I dont make up numbers. We race sleds that are over 450hp so this little 65hp is kind of a joke!

Hmm, interested, but my 450R is only about 90% show quality, still has a few rough parts on it. Plus, the motor is no where near what that 363 would be. Still, I would have a couple months to make it 100% show quality though, huh? I even live near Dumont. Maybe I need to build the motor I have always wanted for this 450R....:)

Sure you will have no problem finding a 450R that meets everyones expectations. Excited to read the article, but having both a built 450R and a built 250R, I already know who wins in my world!

Regardless....this is an amazing 450R!!

article

Even though I like to see these articles, and after scanning the latest issue they need some material because half the mag has become utv's. Which I also like but they have their own publications. I could probably sum this one up with.... the four stroke has smoother more usable power that is preferred by most, and the 250r has explosive fun factor, is cheaper to work on and maintain. I would be more interested to just see some Real built 250rs head to head. Rather then the 4 vs 2 stroke. Like that full BDT built bike vs, a Full Led, vs a Halls Precision.. The technolgy and change over the years by those dedicated to keeping these bikes alive is more entertaining to me and it would be cool to see what they can do, not to mention settle some real battles with an unbiased opinion.

I agree its a cool thing in any form for a matchup to a current high quality build. The 250r vs the 450 will interest a wider audience as 2 stroke and 4 stroke competition goes. Now for the current big dogs to pit 250r vs 250r would be a bigger intrest to the 2 stroke audience and i agree to settle some real battles with an unbiased opinion.

I agree with hontrx265r. Dirt wheels will probably smoothly make it as if the 450 is better in the end regardless of actual testing. It's like the stock vs stock comparison. They showed a bit of respect near the end by staying neutral, but it was more focused on the 450

As a general statement, and not a direct responce to any post on here so far.....if it takes a 580CC 4 poke to run with a BDT 363R Sphynx engine then bring it. Not going to get into an HP 'pissing' contest with the 4 strokes, equal HP between a 2 stroke vs a 4 stroke, I will take the 2 stroke any day as the 4 stroke wont have the 'hit' or the fun factor a 2 stroke has at 70 HP.

BDT (I, we) welcome the DirtWheels shoot out, as I am sure Dale does as well.....should be fun and an eye opener for them 4 strokes what a modern 2 stroke 250R is all about.

are you going to run those paddle tires??? I built an 06 450r to a 519cc and made 68hp on the dyno jet in Winchester bay Oregon. the owner of the shop has an 05 575 that makes 81hp. the fact that the 250r at almost half the cc's can beat the 4 strokes is amazing and one of the reasons I switched over to the 2stroke world :)
