Hey guys, out of boredom I just wanted to share my personal comparison of my 250r against my yfz450r and banshee to anyone who cares. I have always wanted a 250r and I finally bought one in july 2011 and the first time I wook it out, I blew the top and bottom due to a crankshaft failure. So I never really had much saddle time on it and didnt get to experience it fully. Now, I just recently got it up and running again with a new 86 engine bored to 68mm and still I've only had it out probably a total of 8 times. I just want you all to know I'm by no means a professional rider but I have been riding for about 22 years and I've owned everything from a kawasaki bayou to the 1st gen YFZ450, WR450 and I'm on my second banshee not to mention I've been racing motocross on and off since I was 16 and I'm not bragging in any way shape or form, I'm just putting in my resume'. The first thing I noticed and liked about my 250r is the weight, it is and FEELS incredibly light and its so easy to throw around where as the banshee feels heavy and the YFZR feels light but not in the same league as the 250r. The suspension and handling is pretty good, it has 400 ex shocks up front and PEP rear widened out and its comfortable on the MX tracks and good for highspeed trails. The banshee has been upgraded to elkas up front with wide a arms and stocker in the rear with wide axle, the rear is really lacking and doesnt like to jump, it lands like a lumber wagon but the rear elkas are nearly $1,000 so Im holding off on the upgrade. The YFZR has the best suspension and handling of the 3 its really amazing and if you ever get the chance to ride one on MX, try it out! The power of the 250r is quite impressive, I find my front end up in the sky all the time and it'll really stretch your arms out which impressed me a lot, it pulls ok on bottom and great in mid range and top it has 68mm bore, dynoport pipe with fmf silencer, oversized carb and intake (not sure what size exactly) the YFZR is more mild even with a open airbox lid 12.4:1 piston and MSD tuner and hmf sport series slip on but still rips decent and pulls hard from top to bottom , the banshee takes the cake on power even though the bottom end is weak, the mid range is super strong and top end is great with just toomey t-6 and open airbox lid. I find myself wanting to ride the 250r more and more. They are all great quads with different personalities, strong in different areas and lacking in different areas but this is one of the many things that keeps me intrigued in this sport. I hope you all enjoyed my mini evaluation and If I missed something please let me know! I leave you with this quote "out of the corner, on the gas, front tires in the air, haulin ass!"
