That would look great on my quad! Want my used red one and some cash? haha. To answer the question though, at one point Honda started selling the tanks in black only then they discontinued.

 

ATC tanks were also made in black.

 

Thanks for the info esseclipse. I’m curious as to why Honda wouldn’t create a separate part number for it then… Has anyone ever seen black OEM fenders for a 250R?

 

I knew they made the black complete seats because I bought one back in 02-03. I never knew they made a black tank.

 

They never made black plastics, black tank and seat. I'm really digging the black tank!

 

Since that's an 87 style tank, I wonder if they stopped using the blue color and switched to black since other machines use black tanks.

Also, if you are not so partial to the black tank, I know you can command a pretty penny for those. I'm not sure who they are, but there are a few people that
are really into those.

 

It's beautiful, I would totally rock it!

As stated; the last run of Honda tanks were all Black for both TRX and ATC 250R's. I have both Tank and Seat on my personal Trike & Quad, I like the Black contrast to the Honda Red Frame and Gold. The reason for Honda running all Black tanks was as Dale aka 250REnvy atated; plus it also was a molding material shortage...not having the blue, red colored resin in stock, obviously it made little sense for them to purchase a large quantity of new Red/Blue resin since the product was being discontinued and other "machies" used Black molding resin...that simple.
