Hey guys I bought a set of +2 jd long travel a arms, now just need to purchase a set of shocks. I am unsure of what length to purchase that will be best for this set up. I will be using this set up for mx,xc and some dune ridding. My options are
- custom axis
- stage 3 Elkas
- pep
- stadiums
- fox

I just need some direction as to the correct length mainly, second best brand for the best out of the box performance. I am 6' 245 lbs if that helps. Thanks guys.

I agree. Call them and get the info straight from the source, then you know your suspension will work correctly. Remember, extended eye to eye length is just one part of the equation, another part is the compressed eye to eye length, just as important.

As far as brand, i have only tried two on your list, Elka and Fox. Both are good shocks, but I feel they leave a little on the table in the setup department. In my opinion, both need a revalve to work to their maximum. I would not call them "best out of the box" at all, more like "decent out of the box."

Another brand to consider is Motowoz. I have been running them for 5 years and am very happy with them. You will get a true custom setup and can call and talk directly to the guy who sets them up. Give them a call and talk to Jim, very knowledgeable and helpful.

A lot of people don't know that Ohlins still makes shocks for our 250R's because they don't look into it. The current Ohlins TTX shocks have all kinds of adjustability, but the price is not necessarily friendly. If interested, give Pro Pilot Suspension a call @ 732-928-7800 and see what they can build for ya.
