We cut all our own Override Transmissions in house at BDTM; on our 1-4, N down as well as 2-4 Overrides we cut the Right shift Fork to .830", the Left to .820", and leave the Center Shift Fork alone. This is how we have cut Overrides since 85, hope it helps. Carlos

One last question hopefully, what side of the forks need to be cut? Im thinking the sides that face eachother? Also the 2-4 doesnt need a spring like the 1-4 does it?

 

The side closest to the Dog Leg gets cut on both shift forks, the 1 to 4, N down has a small 5/8" long spring....

Even when cut correctly as you stated, the use of the spring minimizes shift fork wear....it works well with or without the spring yes, wears less with the spring in place....IMO

I'm glad the springs are helping with your fork wear. I haven't experienced any fork wear problems. Matter of fact since 2004, my N down 1-5 tranny has performed flawlessly on hundreds of passes with some duning hours thrown in here and there.

Yes, good to hear, 250R trans are a quality product, in the right hands they will last for a long time even on BB high HP engines. We have run OEM stock standard and overided trans with CryO gears with no failure for years in BB engines.
