got new plastics for my 86' and they didn't have any paper work with the on how to mount the rears. do you use the old steel rod off the oem plastics? there are nowhere on the maiers for it to fit into.... how did you guys do it? pics would help! thanks a lot

If you look at the upper rear section of my subframe. You can see idea of how to support them. Not sure its perfect, but it doe help rigidity.

I wouldn't even worry about trying to support them. I have never once had any type of support bracket on mine and I have never had an issue with "flopping" or breaking/ cracking nothing! And if you wreck hard enough to break your plastics then Chamces are they woulda broke with or without a support

Dont drill new fender you just spent your hard earned dollars on! I just did not even attempt to drill mine they just flop around on my duner but the worst thing is I am still clueless on why Maier did not include the rear fender brace mount on their forming of these fenders!!!!

I don't think it's so much about surviving through a wreck as it is adding strength to keep their shape and to help keep the right side away from the exhaust to avoid that dreaded burn hole.

Exactly! Mine keep drooping further and further down. I am happy to see this thread as i am in the same predicament right now. Just bought a stock support rod but trying to find the best way to attach it. I like the design burns has. I tried almost the same thing but my design didnt work out.
