Thanks! I didn't actually ask mine... I brought the frame inside when I got it back from powder coating and just started assembling little by little. Then at some point it turned into full-on assembly and what you see nowšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜ It's certainly been nice keeping it inside since it's been so cold out here in MI without a heated garage; otherwise, I really don't think I'd be this far along with the rebuild. I need to take it back out to the garage soon or it'll never fit through the doors without some disassembling.

Here's the latest progress.

I'm getting close to a standstill without having 3 critical parts - a steering stem, a swing arm, or an engine. I'm at the mercy of ISF on when he gets around to building the stem and arm, which it's hard telling when that will be. The bottom end is finished, but I'm waiting to have my ESR 363 CEO top end returned to me from the Selvy family. My hope is that they'll locate it and send it back soon, but I fully understand that they're busy with their own lives and grieving the loss of Rob, let alone tracking down all of Rob's customers parts and getting them returned.

There are small odds and ends that I can do in the meantime. One big thing that needs to get done, that I just can't get excited about, is trying to turn these nasty, old OEM fenders into clean, whiter riders. I had pretty great results with my first rebuild when I refinished my OEM fenders, but these are in much, much worse shape than the first ones that I started with.

How do you like those gps wheels? I thought about running them. Any thoughts on a tire set up for desert 21/20s or 23/22?

Sorry I missed responding to this! I see that you already went with the GPS wheels and ITP tires. Aside from mounting my Obor tires, I don’t have any experience with them yet.
So I noticed my front wheels have a up and down wobble and slightly side wobble to them when you spin the front tires not to happy with that as they don’t seem to be true. Only thing I found is the wheels don’t fit the hub studs snug. The bolt pattern appears to be centered when measured too.

Maybe the stud holes were drilled too large? I actually had to make mine larger on 2 holes, on both fronts, as they wouldn’t fit over the studs.
Yeah there slightly big but even then has some slight up and down wobble is this common for atv wheels? I just don’t want to get this thing running to find out it has a high speed vibration from it

I just checked mine. They wobble some too, but not any more than my Hipers on my red R. Some of the wobble you’re seeing could be the tires, too. I don’t think they’re ever going to be perfectly balanced/true like an automotive tire/wheel.
Good to know. All my wobble is from the wheel. Oh well I’ll just run em.

RB Racing finished up my engine. He didn't do too much to it porting wise, as the port timings were already pretty aggressive from ESR. However, he did adjust the spacer plate and gaskets to make sure everything was setup properly. Once I got the engine back I swapped out the OEM stator for the DRW Zeeltronic ignition/stator. I'm hoping this ignition is everything they say it is.

Look over the single connectors real good they suck and we’re not crimped well. I re did all of mine with weather proof ones.

Now that I have my coolant leaking issue resolved, I’m back to trying to figuring out the Zeel ignition - coolant issue thread located here: Coolant Leaking Issues

I ordered the Zeel programming cable to better understand the maps and have the ability to update and adjust them, especially after hearing there are improved starting settings, etc.

Here are the two preprogrammed maps and settings from DRW - Map 1 is supposed to be TRX250R and Map 2 is supposed to be 01 CR250:

Interesting to see that map 1 has more overall timing. I assumed the cr map had more. I’m also waiting on my cable to get here to experiment with timing but need to figure out what all the other things effect on you pics.

Agreed. I contacted Dave and Weston asking about the maps that I have and any changes or improvements that they would recommend. Dave’s only response was a laugh emoji and Weston said that he’d only recommend changes if the engine was on a dyno.

The main reason I got this ignition was because Dave spoke so incredibly highly of it and it’s significant improvements over stock, HPI, CR, etc. I think the first few people who got their Zeel’s through Dave were the lucky ones as he seemed to support them and any updates/adjustments. Everyone else that got theirs through DRW seems to be in the dark. There were no instructions, setup details, etc. provided and when asking about their product you get laughed at. I’m in contact with a couple of other guys on their Zeel journey and any map adjustments they’re making, and I also reached out to a somewhat local 2-stroke tuner with a dyno to see if he could help me out. I’ll definitely share any details as I learn them.
Keep us updated. when the time comes I will be adjusting mine also that’s why I purchased the cable too. Quick research is showing me different than what I know of 4 stroke motors as far as timing parameters and how a 2 stroke is effected by retarded timing.

Quick update - I was able to get confirmation from Dave that my maps are OPPOSITE of what was advertised. My Map 1 above is CR250 (21.3 deg timing) and my Map 2 is TRX250R (18.0 deg timing). If I wouldn’t have gotten the cable to check them, I would have never known. Especially since I was planning on wiring my Zeel to be Map 2 only to use the CR250 map. If you wired a map switch to toggle between the two maps you could probably tell a performance difference and which is which, but for anyone considering wiring their Zeel without a map switch I’d strongly suggest that you get a cable to confirm your maps first.
Wow good to know I thought that was weird. I wonder if mines the same I have mine wired on map 2. I just got the cable I’ll have to check it.
