To want this 88 to ride, not to just sit and look at?? I know he says never started, no fluids, blah blah blah... To me, it is too awesome to just let sit. I don't think he will get what he is asking for this one or the 89 he has listed as well but I would love to have a new one to ride the hell out of...

But maybe it is just me :D

Id ride it!. Frankly with it missing original chain and ripped seat its not the million dollar ride he thinks it is. Dont get me wrong I think it is awesome and if i was rich id buy it. But since its got some flaws it loses a little something for me, so id ride the shit out of it. Maybe there isn't a totally new, all there, unstated 250r out there. With all that being said, I still thingk 12,000 is a reasonable starting point but not what I would pay

I say don't ride something that close to mint oem. There are enough very nice 250r's out there to snag up and ride. R's like the 88 and 89 pictured should be kept like fine china in a cabinet. Id buy it if i was looking for collecters piece but if I had 12,000 to play with I can guarantee I wouldn't be buying and riding that piece of art. Just simply not not worth it. You can buy 2 super nice R's completely built with top notch parts for 12,000. Or one crazy nice R and still have thousands left over to hook it up. That's my 2¢

I see your point. But it is a machine... not a painting lol. Well if i had 12k, this wouldn't be my first choice of things to spend it on so maybe thats why I cant see myself leaving it in a glass bubble.

14.000 ???????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the the 250r's as much as the next guy but omg the thing maybe sold for $3200 in 88.
Dont get me wrong it looks awsome.
But it kills me that a guy will ask what his R is worth to other members on here even if it has a flawless frame and say lone star a a arm's and swing arm and people will say 3 or 4 grand.
But a bone stock perfect 88 R 27 years later is 14.000.
Its not a rare in high demand muscle car.
If i had 14 grand to spend on a R I would build 2 great R's and good beater one.

The R one of the best quads ?
Try the best quad lol.
I dont believe half the stuff people say on e bay or the internet Im not try to sound rude.
Even if I had 31 grand and I bought it wich I would never do it for that atc or any atv I would be embarrassed if anyone found out lol
There are plenty of next to perfect atv's out west or down south and for a ton less then 31.000 even if its the cleanest nos one in the world.
You and I can relate to living where rust is really bad and can appreciate a fine machine.
Maybe Im alone on this 1 but I would rather have your 89 R for 10.000 wich I never seen than a perfect bone stock nos atc for 31.000.
Even if you had it would you ride it ? PICTURES ARE FOR LOOKING.
R's ARE FOR RIDING LOL

I was the winner of this quad and would have paid $25k for it all day long. I have to imagine there are other crazy people like me that would pay high for a unicorn like this. Unfortnuately, like a unicorn, it was not real. Nor was the 89 new quad advertisied by the same seller that I also won. Unfortunately both bikes are restorations (and not very good ones) done by a guy in Michigan who thinks he is a god. Most everything was repainted, the engine was missing major internal parts (but it looked pretty!) and could never actually be started, stickers are poor reproductions, wheels were from a 2005 450R, brake rotors scored, many NOS parts used on the restoration but with an inoperable engine with no clutch, repainted wrong color frame with reproduction factory stickers (in the wrong font ha ha) and glossy paint applied to exhaust etc - its only value is in the parts which were not molested. Oh and the frame is bent

This is what I mean.
Its insane to pay a ton of money for it even if it was a unicorn.
Of course unless your rich as hell.
I dont have that problem lol
