i was wondering what it would take to put an aluminum swing arm from a 1988 in my 1986 frame i see the mount is all the way across the front what would you have to do about the engine mount on my 1986 if anyone can help thanks in advance
To clarify, the 86 utilizes a motor mount that fits on the swingarm bolt with the swingarm that CAN'T be used if you're using an 88/89 swingarm. It doesn't use the swingarm itself. I believe a member here is currently working on creating the motor mount that is missing from the 86/87 frame so that you could have it welded in place and then use an 88/89 swingarm.the 88-89 have a welded in rear mount beteen the upright frame supports for the engine. THe 86 utilizes the swing arm.
I have bought some parts from him, will shoot him a txt msg, thanks scawnI had mentioned the need for these to pdxbigfoot and he said he was looking at making some. I haven't talked to him about it since so I'm not sure where he is as far as progress. Maybe you should shoot him a PM and see where he's at on them as I know he's been creating some other cool items lately.
I would think that might weaken it too much being aluminum.could you cut the section out of the aluminum swing arm and bolt it in like the older ones
that is one awesome machine> i realy want an 85 or 86 atciceracerpage1
here is a link to the setup on my 86 atc. There is a picture of motor mounts i welded in there to run the 88 swing arm.
I definitely would not suggest cutting the aluminum swing arm to fit it. That would weaken it dramatically.
That is so beautiful! If I ever find an ATC250R short track tank kit that I can afford, my TRX250R will be set aside or sold. Here is a link to the setup on my 86 ATC. There is a picture of motor mounts I welded in there to run the 88 swing arm.
