My experience with BDT

I've been a member on here for a few years now & never heard of BDT (or Carlos) before here. I've read a lot of negativity & bashing towards BDT, I've always stayed out of it because I haven't dealt with them firsthand. I've gotten pretty leery of trying them because of things I've read (honestly some self inflected by Carlos). I decided to give them a try & order the CR ignition upgrade...I gotta say I'm pretty impressed by the results.
I started by messaging Carlos on here about my options & which would be best for me, I messaged him ALOT with every question I could think of & he was really good about answering all of them. I finally called him to place the order & ended up talking with him for quite some time about final questions & the install (it was really nice to speak with him instead of text). I had to get the coil mount reworked do to having an LSR frame, it can take up to a week just for shipping from California to me in Wisconsin, so I was really surprised that I received it yesterday by two day mail. Everything was individually bubble wrapped & packaged carefully.
I will definitely call on Carlos & BDT for my future 250R needs, that's again!!:)

Yup Carlos has always done great work for me. The engines run great and when i need a part or want to change something, it happens quickly.

Its to bad all the crap that goes on here. It really just hurts the forums, and i know there are many that want to hurt this forum unfortunately. Alot of the negativity comes from people who have never actually delt with him or anyone at BDT directly . Almost everyone that is against him have band wagoner on a couple bad stories and are only really speaking hearsay and not first hand experience.

No company is perfect, and its easy to get into heated debates on the forums and say things that you shouldn't. I bet anyone of us could be guilty of that. Im not saying that to defend Carlos, hes more than capeable of that himself. Im just saying it as a general statement that what gets said on the forums gets can get out of hand when your emotional. Whether its your business or your passion as a 250R enthusiast.

Everyone needs to calm down take a deep breath and keep moving forward. This disagreement will never be solved.

This is exactly why I haven't said anything until now. My opinion about BDT over the years have gone back & forth from reading various threads then I finally decided to give them a real shot & see what happens.

My bashing of BDT has absolutely nothing to do with me wanting to hurt this forum. This is the only form of social mediaI'm apart of. I check this forum when I wake up, and I'm on it before I go to bed. My problem is that Carlos directly said how poor of a design LED's large tapered intake is, how it's an inferior product to his straight tube design (only to hurt LED's sales), then he goes and uses the same large tapered design. BDT is the only shop I've seen that needs to talk down their competitors product to sell theirs. Go ahead and use the "trumpet' example, but the only thing that is getting blown with no "choopy' lines is smoke up peoples butts.

I agree, this is the self inflected negativity I'm referring too & why I've wavered with my opinion.
I went with LED for my cylinder work & purchased their 250C pipe & I'm extremely happy with their work!

I personally couldn't care less. He's a site sponsor and has his own section, so when sales pitches get posted in that section, people shouldn't complain. But when every thread turns into one or people always steer people a certain direction, it becomes a bit much. I just stay out of the BS, but can often understand where people are coming from.

I think it is kind of sad that he is the only one that does that, I hope that changes soon. I was trying to read about when he acquired the rights to the saber line and posts were getting deleted so fast I couldn't make heads or tails of it. The good things are he helps out guys with questions. I know a kid racing mx blew up a motor (blown crank seal) that he bought used that was built at bdt and Carlos sent him a new motor to finish the year out while his motor was being rebuilt for the next year. I am pretty darn sure he has the best atc pipe out there at the moment and he loves the 250r. I do not like that posts get deleted. I would rather read everything and make up my own mind as to who is right or wrong. If things get out of hand close the thread but leave everything there for us to read.

All I can say is this my heart started pounding when I saw that first wurks atc pipe that Kenny built. I was excited when I saw the 200cc trike motors Honda and Kawasaki going together and his motors were running strong against the tpc trikes, that was an awesome thread till about page 5. I thought both builders did a good job. I know if it was me racing against those 4 pokes, I would design a chromoly or aluminum framed atc with custom built shortened inverted forks shave off some more weight and slap that bdt motor in there for next year, he could build some jigs and sell frames for other guys that want to go head to head with the tpc's. I like to read about guys building bikes in their garage or basement too or helping forum members with parts they need and giving free advice to help a guy keep his 2 stroke running. I don't want to take anything away from Neil either that guy seems to be another 2 stroke nut that spends a lot of time helping guys get their bikes running right, donating his time to help organize races etc...

bdt has always been there for me and my son.carlos and the whole bdt crew are awesome people..i think it's funny how people say crap and have never bought or delt with them, but they "know-it-all"...they are just following what they have read and are not going by personal experience..thats to bdt the 250r lives strong..

I haven't been in the 250R game for very long. I have spent a couple of months on this forum, mostly just reading and researching. I recently finished up a project bike and I bought an entire engine for it from Carlos. The engine I wanted had been robbed of its head so they could finish another engine up with it. So it took about an extra week for me to get my engine, which wasn't a big deal, because I had a lot of other work to do on the bike and was not particularly waiting on the engine. I told him I was fine with it. The engine arrived exactly when he told me it would the day I bought it, and they threw in a few little upgrades/freebies in the box for my wait. Not to mention the fact that the engine looks like a work of art and runs really strong. So while I'm not a BDT fanboy or loyal to anyone else either, I just like doing business with people who are business-like. BDT and Carlos have a positive vote from me and I will do business with them in the future.

Carlos is rebuilding my CR500 motor now top to bottom and all in between, with pro porting, high compression the whole 9 yards and I expect nothing but a torque monster high HP missile when I get it back! Not to mention customer service and communication has been bar none thus far!!!!
