hello everyone,

looking for a good XC race pipe, ESR any good? they are actually about 15 mintues done the road from me.
Motor right now is a 300 in case that helps?

thanks

The ESR trx 5 is the best all around pipe. The esr trx7 is also great for mostly lower end slower tight tractor stuff. Looking at your location if you also play in the dunes the 5 would work great for you.

Thank you

I do a little duning at pismo, will be making a few trips a year with my wifes family to glamis. most of the riding I do is track and trails. most of it is wide open riding with a few tight sections thrown in. do you think the trx5 would be good for most of that type of riding? I am used to haveing two stokes having little bottom so I usually down shift in a corner anyway.

Thanks for the replys everyone. the trx5 may be the trick. but I thought of something else I would throw in there. the racing that I am doing is going to be the WORCS series, which is like the GNCC series of the west. for those that have not heard of it, it starts on a motocross track and goes for about a 1/4 lap then goes into trails with a varitiy of things thrown in. at the end of the lap there is usually a tire section and log section. what I am looking for is something that will have enough grunt so that i dont have to shift as much but I also dont want to sacrifice top end because there will be sections I need it.

For the WORCS series you described with a 300CC engine, look at other options like the PT RACE, or "Krank It" ExH as suggested..all good off the shelf pipes. If your budget allows, look at the BDTM SONIC WURKS Hand Coned XC as another option.

The TRX5 would be a good pipe, also the TRX7 if you want more bottom and wouldn't mind sacrificing some top. I run a Sparks MX for XC, it has a little bit too much "hit" in the midrange, but I like that 2-stroke hit its more fun. Another good option would be the Paul Turner Type-6

I like my LRD adjustable for xc race style riding a lot. You will find people who don't like them but personally I know it's a great xc pipe. Other pipes I've ran we're more top end so the only xc type pipes I've used was a fatty now lrd.

The best pipe I have ever bolted on non ported cylinder was a CT national, I ran a Type 6 PT mostly because it fit me best and I tried a handful of others. The CT with a 38mm would fit me best for the conditions you are describing, PT race which was suggested is a little to unforgiving for me (89' is all I have ever tried), Pro Circuit actually runs pretty well and is very smooth, Type 6 will not rev out like you would be looking for, DG is like a stock exhaust on steroids, LRD I have never ran on a un ported cylinder and the FMF Fattys and SST are nothing more than scrap metal to me.

CT with a 38mm sounds like a good set up, how was the hit for you?
I am also tossing around idea of the TRX5 doing a few different mods to help it with the bottom end.
A lot of different choices for the 250r
I also have a YZ250 and have pro circuit on it, had an SST on it for bit and hated it.

CT pipe doesn't have much hit which makes it very tractable, for my almost strictly woods riding and the way I ride the burst was a bit too much when it got tight. I really perfered the CT pipe over the Type 6 in the open especially but I was very used to the PT delivery so overall I could use it better. The Pro Circuit seemed to rev out better than either of these and was smooth on also but just doesn't seem to accelerate as well as the CT. I did run the CT with a 36mm and would have been perfectly fine with that if I didn't have my PT, some of the stuff I ride around home is like 48" or less winding trail and I lug it through there quite a bit so the PT just worked better for my general riding. If I was going to run what I would call intermediate terrain I would have a CT with a 36mm or a 38mm or a similar midrange type exhaust.
