I just got mine beveled a few days ago when I put my hinson in my 85 atc motor. My 86 motor will need to have it done also when I put my other hinson in it. Hinson's instructions do say it needs to be done for 86 motors(I've heard they quit putting that in the instructions, but I guess they went back to the old instructions that include that again). The 87 and up gear is fine according to their instructions. If you don't bevel it when it's needed you will end up with the damage in the pics above. On mine it was just barely touching the basket and that was before tightening the basket down. I bought both those baskets about 1 1/2 years ago btw.
