As I recall, you wouldn't be able to mesh the drive and ring gears enough to even get both the clutch and drive gear mounted on their shafts without beveling the gear if you have the thicker gear. So yes, you would know right away.

The clutch basket in the pic you posted looks OEM to my eye. It's possible that at some point someone was running a billet basket in your engine and for whatever reason went back to OEM.. Or the drive gear was replaced and the gear that was picked up was beveled??

Whatever the case, everything pertaining to the drive and ring gears in the pic you posted looks fine. The upside is, if you ever decide to get a Hinson or other billet basket, your gear is already done! :)
