For my birthday, I slipped away to the Stewart's ATV dyno shop to tune my latest 450R project (and missed all the site drama meltdown).

It was way too hot (105 degrees) to get better numbers, but I'm fairly happy with it for a stock bore, stock crank on pump gas...
Below is one of the dyno sheets, and a couple bike pics. I know there are a couple guys on here like me with 250's and 450's, let me know what you think.

Wow that's pretty impressive. So what's done to the motor to get it to 57HP? That's a pretty good number.

I like looking at these dyno charts and pics. More builders need to post these to make their operations more transparent

not bad ... ya im one of those guys!!

what have you done to it?
with mine I've changed it so many times I actually forget which cam I even have in it now... but if my memory serves me right I think I have it mostly Baldwin setup now and its not that impressive, to smooth a power deliver probably great for traction but just not the way I like it,,,,
my best setup for me so far has been web cam JE high compression piston, crf head gasket ....

ive got a crf head that im going to get rebuilt and ported for the trx, that should wake it up

Now this is just hearsay but....i've heard Baldwin really gives the shaft to "average joe's" who aren't prominent racers. Basically paying for the Baldwin name, and not getting exactly what you pay for.

Did Baldwin do some of your motor work?

Thanks! It's really just my stock appearing trail cruiser (and drag sleeper).

450cc, Demon CNC +1 head, CP 12.5:1 piston, Web 208/921, Dasa Classic, bored FCR, FCI... I agree on swapping cams, it's amazing how accustom you can get to swapping valvetrain parts.

When I get bored with it, or break something, I plan on building it in the 480-510cc range (and still look stock with a pipe).

Nice #'s!
Mines at the dyno now! Went from stock to BB/stroker, early hrc cam, ported head, cfm airbox open lid with uni... I don't wana get caught up in #'s, but it sure feels alot stronger
Mines an 05 tho...so I had some catching up to do anyways lol

I think we made about 40 pulls testing intakes. I had a few with higher peak horsepower and torque, but the air/fuel wasn't where I wanted it. This is a really conservative a/f ratio that I can still trail ride when I'm not on one of my 250R's or 330R's. This was the first run with the new 208/921 cam and Fuel Customs Intake.

I agree on calling Morgan at Demon... He's a great guy to deal with and he's helped me alot. It's nice having a pro-builder that you can call/text as a friend, not just when something goes wrong.

Is the tq number kind of low?

Yes, and the power comes on a little late. With the previous cam and intake, it was nearly impossible to ride, so I wanted to shift the power a little.
I've planned that this 450 would always have a stock swingarm, so the cam and intake setup are designed to ease the bottom end hit then pull stronger in the mid-range and top end.

It's just an experiment with the idea, and I may swap the cam/piston/intake again soon if I don't like how it rides.

After visiting with Morgan, I realized that my horsepower and torque readings were reported with SAE conversion factors, but most shops report them in Standard STD or STP measurements. I asked for an updated printout, which Randy will be emailing. Does anybody have any experience with the conversions?

I agree rsss396, he is sending me the files from my last two trips, on the 450R and 330R. This trip was meant to test my newest intake setup and cam swap, and my swap from 110 to pump gas. I'm anxious to ride it more and see how the a/f ratio works in the field, and see what adjustments are needed, if any.

Congratulations Black Sheep, 70 is very impressive. I'm proud of mine for the numbers it makes, on pump gas from Loves, with no power adders.
