Stroker questions

I have a nice stock jug that's ported and setup for a 89 long rod motor that I ran a whole for a season of XC. So I tore the bike down for a rebuild and my motor builder had a nice +4 crank. So I clearenced the cases, and bought a thick .250 spacer and he said this would work. But I know you have to set the port timing up for tge crank and everything. Is this thing a ticking time bomb? The new season is getting close and I need it to last. Thanks

Not a "ticking time bomb', it will run, just not as good as you would expect since the port timings will be considerably off. Once ported and flowed for the added stroke, it will perform much better and you will see the benefits of the stroker crank, specially down in the low part of the power band.

How much would it be to have it match ported? I've been considering a BB setup. Its strictly a xc bike, so gas milage is a concern. I like Esr cylinder kits price but I've blown 2 of them up in a month. Front seized up on their new cylinders. Any luck with tge new cylinders? Any idea what displacement I'm at. 265 with a +4 crank.

is there a real noticeable difference in performance between the 85-86 and the 88-89 cylinder? or can they be ported to were there would be no difference?

The old motor had a thin spacer setup, and when I got the crank from him he gave me a spacer that was setup for the + crank to set everything back right where it should be. I called to confirm. His work has been nothing but great for me. Last race I pulled 3rd on the holeshot on a dead engine hands on your head xc race and stayed in 2nd the whole race till the end when I got worn out and settled for 3rd. But everyone was suprised with tye little 265. Even drug a 330 esr.
