Gonna rebuild my motor soon and just wondering what would be good options with keeping a stock cylinder, getting it ported by a repitubale builder, and a +4-5 stroker in it...

I have a factory 86 crank, ESR wants 325$ to stroke it and rebuild and FTZ wants 350$ for the same. Gonna call a few other places to check prices also...I'd imagine honda Oem stroked crank would be my best choice right? What's some good combinations for a stock cylinder with a striker crank that anyone has had experience with?

Also seeing on eBay some strokes cranks (hot rods) with bearings and all.. Are these good kits from y'all's experience. I've seen Carlos say he's done a bunch of builds with the hot rods and have 0 issues.

I ran a oem stroker done by esr and I'm very happy and it lasted years its still out in a motor today prob 5 or 6 years old

I have a OEM stroked crank by ESR. Its over 3 years old now.

Same here. OEM stroked by ESR 5mill. Currently run it in my 370, have also ran in several stock cylinder applications with zero issues. I suggest replacing the rod with a new OEM while your at it. Could upgrade to beefier rod too, but IMO not necessary with the stock cylinder applications.

Mine was OEM stroked by esr as well. If you are saying that the hotrods kit included new crank bearings, only use OEM factory honda 8 ball crank bearings.

If you get one of the new model Hot Rod strokers it should be ok.

If going +4MM, go with the latest batch of HotRods...they are very good cranks. I would not bother stroking an OEM anymore to +4MM, If it makes you feel better; get the HotRod +4MM tore down, replace the Rod with OEM, and weld the Pin & Tins, however; we have been using the New HotRods +4MM 'as is' without welding or OEM rods even on high HP Sphynx engines without any issues.

PS: BDTM rebuilds all of our own cranks (in house) as well...just not worth doing a +4MM when you can get a New HotRod that works.

My Sphynx 363 has a +4 Hot rods. Probably 10 hours on it. No issues as of yet, and i do not have welded Tins. It will be inspected for wear this winter.
