im having the same issue right now,

took top end apart, worn rings low compression.

shop checked it out and honed it for me and ordered the corresponding piston part number.

put everything together and the piston smacks the dome and cant roll over to go back down.
as if siezing.

if i loosen the head bolts than it will.. its poking up about the same as yours is.

i have a spacer plate 88 motor with an 86 style piston, old and new piston numbers match.

i tried to add another base gasket and it was closer but not enough, so theres three there now.

do i need to try four?

why did the old piston fit but not the new, they have the same p/n.

carlos says that wiseco pistons arent always the same regardless

new head gasket with three base gaskets it works

old head gasket with two base gaskets one new, it works..

the new head gasket is a MLS and the old is a paper with copperspray on it.

base gaskets all the same thickness..

the problem im having now is that with either setup it only blows 150 psi cold.

this motor has just been honed and has a brand new piston.

is 150 cold too low? the fucker blew 155 before it took it out with the old shit in it!

did the hone lower the compression?
