Those pipes probably won't swap between the '86 & '87 machines because of the pipe mounting tab that attaches to the frame at the forward motor mounts. The '86 pipe might work on the '87 R if you use a spacer between the frame and the pipe's mounting tab, but the '87 pipe won't work on the '86 R.
