Your quad looks sick man! I love dune quads!

I run an ESR330PV. I've had 3 years and recently found out that the PV never worked properly so I'm still trying to work the bugs out. There is another post on the PV defect that ESR found on mine. Anyhow, if I did it again, i might get a non PV or a CT PV, but like I said, I'm still trying to work the bugs out. Also, if you are mainly riding dunes, I'd go with a 330 or 350.

esr has supposedly fixed the bugs on their newer PVs

ESR fixed their side of it, but I'm still experimenting with different springs. On the last trip that I made, they suggested that I run two springs wound together so I tried it. It seemed like the engine was sluggish on acceleration, like the powervalve was not opening soon enough.

ESR can change a bunch of things about that P/V, but untill they move the pulse hole from out of the middle of the exhaust port the problem will never go away. It gets its pulse way to early & because of that might as well not even have a P/V.

So where is the pulse hole on the CT PV cylinders?

how do you knkow when the powervalve is working right?

Well, I guess you just have to go by feel and tune it how you like it. The first 3 years that I owned it, it never felt like it really did anything. It felt like it was open all the time or opening at a really low rpm. When i had the engine rebuilt, Jay from ESR discovered that mine was one that was incorrect and they replaced it. Now I'm just trying to fine tune and find the right spring to make it open where it feels the best. I like good low to mid power and easy ridability so I want that thing to work properly.

I was thinking a hobby shop might have a good assortment of springs to try. I used to have a RC10T that came with several shock springs with varying tensions for different handling.

I'm going to ride this weekend and play with the springs some more. If I don't find a solution, I'll try to find different springs or try a different exhaust pipe. I might trade out the trx5 for an mx type pipe. I've got a PT race and I can borrow a trx6.

Thanks for your insight Neil.
