I'm looking at getting a 86 250r with a 87 motor I know it needs a crank and a piston it looks like ugly has +2 arms cascade seat fmf pipe he wants 850 for it do you guys think it's a good deal and if so what goodies should I look for to run with the wife's banshee

depends on whats the budget for the parts, and run with where? trails? desert ? Dunes? MX?
crank is 250$ piston kit is 150$ or so you'd have money well spent to have the cylinder ported by a pro. but thats gonna run about 450$ these days.
id do it for 850$ for sure it was in decent shape.
