Well I have been a looker on here for a long time and decided it was time to register.

I have had and still have a few 250r's usually stock or very mild modded I have picked up another one recently and I have always wanted to build one and build one I mean a trx500r so I figured I got this one cheap so this one would be the "one" so let the project begin.

I piced this one up for cheap (trade deal that work in my favor ) and the last owner could not get it running younger kid no history with them but came down to little to no compression I pulled the engine off and top the jug off every thing looks ok nothing a small rebuild can't fix but the frame has 4 layer of paint on it :( that bugs me a lot.

So I figure it is winter here in CT I have down time and the frame needs to get sand blasted no matter what engine I stuff back in it. So I decided I want the 500 In it I have owned a lot of 250r's I enjoy them and will always engine the ones I have bit I want this to be the money pit one

Also going to do the gusset kit on the frame after sandblast and once I build the mounts how I like them I will have it powder coated.

I will update as much as I can but it won't be a quick project it will be over 5-6 months while the snow is here and I enjoy my fl350 odyssey :)

I also never messed with a cr500 to much so I hope there are a few guys in here that know them because I would like to do a foward kick start conversion on it.

Also I want verfy the year of my frame is there and right way to do that ?

86/87 has a steel swinger with the engine mounted through the pivot bolt. 88/89 is an aluminum swinger and the rear engine mount does not go through the pivot bolt. There's other guys here that can probably get you the specific year of your frame.

Well I picked up the donor bike today it was already apart for a top end and over haul so it will be the new power plant

Any one have a wirte up or how to on doing a foward kick start conversion to it ?

Also any one have a hook up on getting a pipe made for the swap ?

Id keep the TRX engine for 101 reasons

But either way good luck with your build :)
