Hey i was just wondering if anyone could help me and my dad figure out what is wrong with our 86 250r
my dad bought the bike brand new in 1986 rode it for about 15-18 years rebuilt it a couple of times and raced it every once in awhile he said it ran great when he used to ride it and no major problems with it, when he stopped riding about 7 years ago he put it in the building until i was old enough to ride it
Around 2 years ago we got it out of the building my dad took the motor apart put new crank bearings, seals, gaskets, and a wiseco piston cleaned the carb and started it up ran great broke the motor in correctly and started riding it ran good for about 2 months and the motor came apart so we rebuilt the top end thinking it was just a freak accident but around 2 months later it did the same thing, in total we have rebuilt the motor around 6 or 7 times over one year
every time the motor comes apart it scars up the sides of the jug, where the gas that comes up from the crank goes in to the cylinder and enters the combustion chamber, and ruins the rings and piston, after about the third time it did this we had to get the cylinder resleeved and its been bored to .40 over after that
specs the bike has a paul turner expansion pipe, 36mm keihin carb, uni air filter, wiseco pro lite piston, and we mix the gas at 20:1
thanks for the help any advice is glady appreciated
