Got some more work done on the 88 model.....I still need to install the brakes, intake/carb, radiator hoses/coolant, and nerf bars but its pretty close.

Picked up an 87 model while searching for parts for my 88 so I slowed down on the 88 and trying to get the 87 caught up with the 88.

This 87 build will be my wife's bike.....we ditched our 4 strokes (450R and 400ex) for these "time machines" LOL!

Thanks guys, we are looking fwd to getting them finished up and ready to ride! We rode this 87 model just a little bit before we tore it down to restore and it put a big smile on our face LOL! The 88 has not even been fired yet but in due time.

Yes Apex, it is a TRX9 center mount. Havent fired it yet....its a 4mm stroked, 310 PV cylinder

Sameltoe, the frame doesnt have a mount at all and so I was thinking of making an aluminum clamp for the 1" tube for a pipe mount but I might be interested in what you have?

Thanks

Got some more work done on the 87

I got a little more done on the 87. Fired it up for the first time this afternoon and sounds great! Still working on the plastic but it is getting close.....I basically just have to finish reworking the brakes and finalize the plastic and install a few graphics.

Built the motor twice LOL! Got it done and installed last night and found a small puddle this morning LOL! Took it out, tore it down, worked on the case a little bit and then installed with a little bit of sealer, got it back together, back in the quad and it fired right up! I will be glad to get this one done so I can get back to work on my 88.

Thanks for all the information!

Both my 250Rs are complete (probably never really complete as I will always keep my eyes peeled for cool stuff) and we have had them out twice and they are just a blast to ride. We had a couple of very nice Honda 4 strokes that we sold off to start this BIG project of building us 2 classic Honda 2 strokes to ride hoping that it would pan out with the added fun factor that we missed from a long time ago and sure enough, we got just what we were looking for! Couldnt have worked out better and I just wanted to say Thanks to everyone on here that keeps things positive and answeres questions and passes on information and such because it has been a HUGE help. I have bought on here, sold on here and asked alot of questions and looked up alot of good information and I appreciate it! The site is an asset to the 250R!

Still have to build some radiator shrouds but other than that, both quads are running very well, are very easy to start and have been very trouble free so far. The white one is an 87 that is pretty much all original with chrome suspension parts in which we went for the classic look (for my wife of 20 years) and it has a ported cylinder on it from an old local flat track racer and it seams to run really good for a 265. The red one is an Arens chassis with an ESR 310PV and I would have to say that I am completely satisfied with it.....it runs great! They will have a pretty easy life for as long as I have them !

so did you end up using the exhaust mounts mentioned above or make your own?

I am starting an arens build up soon so looking for some pointers

awesome looking quad man!

I ended up using a billet clamp for a 1" tube and made a plate that bolts to it and catches the pipe........ worked great, looks great and is adjustable. I can post a picture of it if you want. I used a ESR center mount pipe and I ended up having to modify some things to get it all like I wanted it and had to make my own intake because I had issues with the carburetor almost hitting the frame. I ended up modifying a tube and using a CR intake boot and it gave me just enough room. Thanks for the compliment and good luck with your build!

Arens frame pipe mount and intake

Here are a few pics of the pipe mount I used and the air filter intake I made to get past the carb almost hitting the frame issue.

I used a CR250 carb intake boot and it made some additional room and then used a 2.5" silicone 90 deg elbow and an 2.5 aluminum 90 deg and cut the sections I needed from each and then "crushed the aluminum section a little bit for additional clearance. Wasnt exactly a cheap route to go but the air filter and intake system help keep the motor alive so I wanted something that was secure and would seal up good.

The mount is a universal billet aluminum clamp I bought off ebay for a 1" tube.

Changed up the look a little!

I decided to change up the look a little on my 88 a little bit.......we pretty much only dune with our bikes and if we dont go to the dunes, we usually go to Whitefield with is another sand area about 1hr from our house so out bikes pretty much have sand tires on all the time.

After building my wife's 87 with stock plastic and leaving full fenders (just trimmed up a bit) I just couldnt stop looking at it over mine so I decided to sell my fullbore race plastic and try some Maier full fenders in fighting red. I ended up trimming them just like my 87 and added the scooped front hood. I was very happy with the fit of the plastic and it only took some small adjustments here and there to get it all lined up very good. I did have to make my own front mounts but I prefered to do that anyway.

I had an old pair of Graydon Proline V-bars and I painted them black and put them on for a fun retro look. Couldnt be happier with how this quad turned out in both the looks and the ride. Although its only a 310, I am completely happy with it. It lugs around great and rips plenty good for me and it has alot more fun factor than the 450R I had before.

Thanks for looking and thanks for all the info on the site!
