So my frame is an 86 and I believe I have an 86 swingarm. I think the shock is an 86 also. I'll measure when I get home. The problem is the linkage I think. The center dog bone bushing ID is 12mm. The main bolt that goes through the shock and linkage is 12mm. BUT the shock holes are 14mm and the 2 outer linkage bushing ID are 14mm. Makes it super sloppy. Mismatched parts?? Thanks Jason

Swingarm 19.5"
Shock 18"
Center dog bone approx 6 3/4"
Outer linkage forks 7"

It looks like the wishbone part of your linkage is upside down & it also looks like the dogbone might be in backwards. The dogbone has 2 different size bushings. Does that bolt in the pic have a grease zerk on the head end & 2 holes that line up with the wishbone bushings? Looks like it could possibly be the wrong bolt?

No it's just a standard bolt. I'll look closer at it tomorrow and try and see if its backwards

I think that's the only way the wishbone can go in. The dog bone seems right too just the sleeve that goes in is 12mm and everything else is 14mm. Except they used a 12mm bolt to make it work. Kinda

Your doggone is definitely in backwards. The end that bolts to the swinger takes a 12mm bolt & the end that goes to the shock & wishbone takes a 14mm bolt with a zerk in the end of it. You also have the wrong bolt at that connection if it's only 12mm. Your wishbone is upside down to but it might not hurt it to be that way. Generally though the raised bosses on the end of the wishbone legs face down. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks guys I will reverse it and see what happens. Jason

So the dog bone was upside down and the wishbone looks to be reversed. I just need to get the 14mm bolt to go through it all and I should be set. Thanks scrappy!

Cmorris I think it is. Looks right as long as its 14mm in diameter. That's where it goes though on my 86

This is what's so great about off-road enthusiasts & especially R lovers is the willingness to help out complete strangers free of charge to be able to keep each other ripping our R's on whatever terrain we ride.... The bolt you have looks like the right one cmorris. If it's from an 86 atc that bolt works on all years of the trx. Only one different is the 85 atc.
