i have an exhaust leak that comes out as a very low viscosity fluid. i assume it is unburnt fuel. i have a lectron carb and the pilot isnt the issue. i could be rich on my metering rod. what else could cause this? it also is a dog off idle. these are most likely symptoms of a rich carb.

a lil help please.

thanks,

john

John:

Oil or "low viscosity fluid" out the exhaust and eventually out a pipe joint is normal on a good running 2 stroke, they will flow un-burnt oil as part of the normal combustion process and find its way out a poor joint. It sounds like you may have an exhaust leak that first needs to be taken care of…then look at your jetting starting with basic carburetor settings…

its not black/dark brown. its a light brown and has a light viscosity. i assembled my exhaust using trevor's system and it was a very snug fit and with the heat expansion i never expected an exhaust leak. thanks for the response.

didnt know how you meant it but lectrons dont have pilots. are you using a pj? slowly drop the rod until it clears up on the bottom and open the pj a little if needed to get that fuel back on top. if its a dog off idle then it surely has unburnt fuel. not sure about the leak

i was just making a preemptive strike on the "pilot" thing. seeing how so few have a lectron. the way i ride, i will never be feasting on the powerjet. kevin at lectron put me from a 4-5 to a 3-1XL.

IMO, if you truelly believe that, your riding style would much better suit a keihen based on there lowend adjustability.

what i meant was; that i will rarely ever will be WOT and taking full advantage of the powerjet. say like a dune rider would. a lectron has all the adjustment that a keihen or mikuni has but its done differently.

Lectrons do not have a pilot jet, that is what I am referring too for lowend adjustability.

still leaking oil out of the exhaust manifold. i guess this is whats causing all my problems and im blaming it on other things. time to pull the pipe off and get something different to seal the exhaust.
