Ignition and Spark Problem

Hello, I am new to the forum so let me start with a little background story. I recently purchased a non running 86 TRX250r. I got it home and realized the wiring harness was worn out and had several repair jobs. So I purchased a new wiring harness and a CDI from Ricky Stator. I got the CDI because the one on the bike had a crack in the side of it. Once receiving these items I went through the bike and checked all the resistances in the manual. All were within range except the coil. I then went to the Honda dealer and purchased a new coil. I still have no spark at the plug. If I remove the coil and measure the voltage across green the black wire I get a very low voltage (>1 Volt). Also the stator was replaced by the previous owner and looks to be in good shape. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Get a Honda service manual, and an OHM meter, check all electricals to Honda specs. Ditch the RS CDI....aftermarket CDI's are junk, use only OEM, used or new. Ricky Stator Stators are fine, just make sure it checks out to spec. Use Honda OEM Coils only as well, check all connectors, wires, ect...

I changed the CDI and now I get around 10 to 20 volts when I kick it over at the green and black wires before the coil. Once I plug in the coil and a spark plug I still have no spark at the spark plug. The coil is brand new from Honda and it checks out when I compare it to the specs in the manual.

Make sure you kick the engine over 750 RPM's to generate a Spark. Have you checked all the electricals with an OHM meter to the Honda service manual specifications? Making sure your electricals meet specifications is your first step.

Check all connectors, wires, on/off switch, ground, ect....most electrical issues are caused by bad or poor connections.

All electricals check out good, you do have a working OEM CDI, and either an OEM or Ricky Stator? Plus an OEM Coil, and Flywheel (new flywheels can be Ricky Stator), good ground, new Spark Plug, and kicking over 750 RPM's? Check your flywheel, make sure it does not rattle.

One quick check, pull the plug out, take a table spoon of Fuel and pore it down the spark plug hole, tighten plug and see if she fires up even for a 1 or 2 seconds.

check for rust on the pulse generator (I think that's what it called) the thing that sends the spark when the raised part on the flywheel goes past it. I was chasing down the same problem before and it was rust on that part that was the problem.
