When i try to kick over my 88 Trx250r it has major kickback on the kickstarter. But i can roll it off with no problems and runs great. Any suggestions? any help from someone that knows what they are talking about would be greatly helpful. THX

Aftermarket CDI I have did it real bad and so did a used oem one. I got a new oem one and it solved the problem for me.

The CDI comes to mind first,NO aftermarket CDI,s use only OEM Honda. Inspect the flywheel & woodruff key may be sheared or out of location, as well as the pickup & holder cracked or broken. Clean all corrosion from inside and outside of flywheel and stator, check everything, and check all electricals to Honda specs with an OHM meter, including all connectors and wiring. Carlos

If you have a friend locally with an 'R', see If you can borrow his electricals to test with, specially the CDI. Also check all your electricals to Honda OEM specsifications with an OHM meter, and make sure all connectors are clean and making good contact. No rust or corrosion mon the staotr or Flywheel.

IMO 90% of the time, electrical issues are faulty connectors, wire harness, or on/off switch, ect...the CDI, Stator, and Coil follow....

I think my problem is my on/off switch, flick it to the left and it takes a couple seconds for it to kill the bike, seems abnormal, how do i test it? just unplug it? and you never emailed me back about that cr ignition either lol

It was the CDI had a Dynatek F.S. CDI on it not a Janssen one. When i put the quad together I bought so much shit i forget what i put on it sometimes. It was the coil that was made by Janssen. Throwed the factory Honda CDI back on and it fired 2nd kick. So thanks acecarlos, american opel, pantera1975,RyanWsly,and Motofool250r for the info it was spot on.
