CEL will be leaner from 0-3/16 throttle due to the leaner diameter (L vs H) and richer from 3/16 to half throttle due to the length (E vs G) and the C taper will be slightly richer on the bottom and leaner on the top when compared to a D taper needle. When jetting it is ideal to only change one thing at a time so you can feel the effect on performance at the appropriate throttle position. If you go from a DGH needle to a CEL you are changing three parameters at one time and will make it difficult for you to discern the differences in needle taper, length and diameter and their effects at the appropriate throttle positions.

thanks for the advice. The dyno is more just for getting the jetting sorted out rather than trying to find out max hp numbers. The motor has always ran strong, but I could never quite get the bottom end sorted out as far as jetting goes, it was always on the rich side. So it is freshened up with a new piston and rings, and we will see what happens.
