Coming from left field...

But if you are getting a shock, then more than just "earth ground" is going through the frame.

Some wire that is not supposed to is touching the frame/chassis. Do you have a kill switch or anything like that? A (ex) tech inspector at our races has received many shocks pulling kill switches from being hooked up wrong.

Funny- I thought that I was having the same issue on my clutch lever a few races ago when it was wet. My buddy laughed at me and said nah - no way. I did nothing about it and have not felt it since even in the last wet race. Maybe I really was getting shocked.??? Let me know what you find. I will be tearing the bike down soon anyway so I will look for something bare or strange when I do.

i had the same problem the last time i rode my 250 and noticed an odd noise coming from the stator side but didnt pay to much attention to it and when i went to shut the fuel off it shocked the crap out of me. I kinda forget about it since it sits and i ride my 450 most the time anyway but the other day the 250 just stopped running. I took the stator cap off and noticed one of my little screws was missing out of the pickup for the flywheel and it had got jammed in the flywheel and tore the top coil pack up and i guess was grounding the bike out and it wouldnt run. Check something like that. Mine shocked the crap out of me too but i have an antivibe stem so it would shotck through there if it could. Hope this helps. Good luck
