Last night I was installing an air box on the R and noticed premix in the intake boot on the back side of the carb. What would cause that? Bad reeds?

Maybe I should re-state my first post.. When I noticed all the premix on the back side of the carb, I took a look at my reed valve. I noticed the reeds had significant wear and tear so I ordered new ones. This was kind of a blind purchase for me because I don't know a whole lot about the reed valve.. or carb.. but I figured new reeds would be better than what I have. My bike wants to bog on top end sometimes and I'm HOPING this fixes it. If it doesn't.. it's back to the drawing board for me.. How much premix would you say you have on the back side of your carb?? When I took the breather tube off of it, it dripped out pretty steadily for a little while
I always have extra gas/oil on the back side of my carb. Reeds shouldnt be causing the bike to bog down on top end. Tho faster you go the more the reeds open. I think you may have some other issue with the bogging. Check the packing in your silencer. Also could be your jetting. What is your current setup? Carb,ignition,reeds,fuel.

I know literally nothing about the carb it's got on it other than its a Keihin. I really have never messed with carbs or jets before so I'm no help there.. It's got what I believe is a stock ignition and a V force 3 reed valve. It runs on 110 VP gas and Klotz Benol mixed at 24:1
A bit of Oil residue is normal, bad reeds would cause hard starting, poor performance, inconsistent jetting, ect....even with new reeds you would see Oil residue in the carb, intake, and airfilter after it sits.

What are other things I should look at? I haven't even installed the new reeds yet, but I'm still planning on replacing them even if it doesn't fix this problem. The old ones were pretty bad looking.
Is your question related tomthe 'bog'? Bogging can be caused by a host of issues, first being jetting....what is your current jetting, pilot, main, needle, AS....?

Yes, related to the bog. I do not know what jetting this bike has. I should probably ask for help on how to determine that before I proceed with the rest of my troubleshooting... I've never messed with a carb before, so don't be afraid to explain it to me like I'm an idiot. I won't be offended.
Drain the gas out. Loosen the screws on the boots on both sides f the carb. Then turn it till u can get to the screws n the bottom of the bowl. 4 of them. Loosen those some gas may come out. Take the bowl off and you will see the jets. They have little numbers on them might have to take them out to read them.
The main is 155, the pilot is 55... I may have that backwards, my first time messing with it, but those are the numbers. I pulled ye smaller one out, the 55, and could see daylight when I looked through it. But once I cleaned it and blew it out, I could see a lot more daylight than before. Also when I put ur all back together, it idles really fast now....
This might be a post for a different thread, but after I cleaned the jets out and put everything back together, my idle speed is way too high. I've tried messing with the choke/ idle speed knob but it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. Would I have missed something when I was going back overhear with the carb that would cause this?
Well I feel like an idiot. The throttle cable on top of the piece that threads onto the top of the carb had worked out some while I was in the process of taking the carb off earlier. Screwed it back in all the way and presto. Idled like it should.
