310 Pipe?

If you want to buy a new pipe, I suggest ESR. Their pipes are in stock, priced reasonably, and the quality of the craftsmanship is the best out there. They have several models. THe trx7r or the trx5r would be best for you. Compare a chrome CT, LRD, Duncan, and ESR. You will see a major price difference between ESR and the rest.

I agree. I also am going to continue to work with ESR, as they are the only company that are still engineering new parts, e.g. their pipes (TRX7R, 5R, 9R), for our R. No one else is taking the time to design something new for a 20 year old machine. They apparently share the same passion for the R that we do. Thank you ESR!!

I was talking to one of the ESR guys the other day. He said Eddie (ESR) hates all of the 4 strokes. He owns one of each for R&D and fitting parts, but he doesn't ride any of them. When he goes out to the dunes, he rides a 410R. That sort of explains why he continues to develop new products for the R. Plus he's got a niche market now that everyone else quit on the R.

Everytime I go to ESR I always see a couple of R's being worked on or a motor on the counter being shipped out or have just arrived for some work to be done. I like that they build stuff to make their products adapt to aftermarket frames as well.

BTW have you tried installing their centermount pipe in your no link frame WITHOUT clearance issues at all i.e stinger NOT touching the shock AND subframe ?

Norcal, where do you live?

The TT will work good for more wide open tracks, but you will want the MX for tracks with tight corners and technical stuff. The TT will not have the low end power and be harder to keep up on the pipe through the turns, but it will be awesome on the straight aways. Basically MX is low to mid and TT is mid to top. That is the way that I understand it anyway.

The ONLY thing I noticed for sure is the centermount will run 5 to 10 degrees cooler at WOT for an extended amount of time. Why is this, I would not know how to explain
That is the whole purpose of the centermount. The short stinger gets the exhaust gases out quicker which lowers the EGTs. They highly recommed it for big bores like 350 and larger.

I give up Neil. What does it do?
You have mentioned the stingers on the CT pipes before. What size are they? I just measured a PT race and a ESR TRX7R std. mount and they were both about a hair over 1". Do you strongly recommend a big bore pipe on 330 and bigger? It just lowers EGT's right? Lower EGT equals more HP???

THat reminds me, when I did a works race a couple years ago, they were doing noise checks. They checked the silencer out the end and it was only 94 db. Then, just for kicks they held it up to the expansion chamber. Those little monkeys tinking away were making 101 db! Would you call that a good match pipe?

I have both styles and cannot honestly tell the difference on my "ass dyno" if ya know what I mean :p .

The ONLY thing I noticed for sure is the centermount will run 5 to 10 degrees cooler at WOT when held for an extended amount of time. Why is this, I would not know how to explain  .

Is that 5 to 10 degrees water temp or EGT?
