I just got this 250r last Sunday (July 6th 08) after trading it for my rm250. I'm still not sure how i ended up with a 250r. When i got the email saying he wanted to trade i thought he was joking. I only had about $850 in the RM. After talking to the guy I found out he was serious and so we drove down to Columbus and took a look at the R. I wasn't expecting much but i was actually vary surprised. Engines strong and starts with one kick usually. Frame is in excellent shape and doesn't have any cracks, bends, or rust on its original paint. All the bushings where good and it had brand new tires. The only thing it needed was plastic and a rear caliper. After quickly signing a bill of sale and leaving before he changed his mind we took it back home and took it for a test spin. What can i say but WOW. Vary fun bike and the black circles out front of the house proved that. :D I already talked to a guy who used to race them and hes going to give me a good deal on some race plastic and some other performance parts. I'm going to slowly build it up and race it at the local harescramble races and maybe some gncc races later.

Here are some pics I took with my phone when I got it back home.

Figured I do an update on here since its been a long time.

The fun started this winter during the off season. Started by striping the bike down to the frame. It was in sad shape at this point since it could of used a lot of maintenance when I got it and a full race season just made things worse.

Didn't even know I had a bent tie rod.

Cleaned everything up and repainted them. Got all new bearings from Pivot Works and started putting her back together.

Got new chromoly tie rods since one was bent and these are stronger. Also got a new chain slider since the chain was starting to eat at the swingarm.

Got a 4g tank and TRX-6 pipe from 312r1

Put some hand guards on.

Finished putting the motor back together. Only did a hone and new piston for the cylinder. Clutch is basically all new. Only piece that wasn't replaced was the arm that clutch cable connects too. Did the 89 upgrade with a Hinson basket. You can tell from the pic it was past time for a new basket. The old basket was actually filed down twice to keep it working last season.

Looks like you might be having too much fun. I don't think thier is anything in the rulebook against it. It does say to wash the mud off that bike so you can do it all over again. LOL
