I just picked up my R project from powdercoat today! My theme is going to be a modern stock-looking 250R. Basically, it's my take on what a 2009 Honda 250R might look like. I have a bunch of little things that I still need to pick up, like front hub bearings, swingarm bearings, swingarm bolt, etc. It's coming along pretty nicely, and the icing on the cake will be a new set of red Laker Custom plastics w/ 250R decals. Please let me know what you think.

Looks good. I like the silver that you chose. Looks like OEM honda silver.

Looks like your off to a great start. Be sure to keep us updated as the build takes shape.

Sweet chrome spindles! They match the chrome uppers nicely! Great job!
Thanks again for the spindles, they do look really cool in chrome. I will continually definitely update this thread as I go.

That's exactly the look I was going for, thanks! The powdercoater told me that they clear-coated everything too, and it think it brings out a really nice shine (it's more evident in person). Did I mention that I only paid $200 for the whole job?

That clear coat helps it hold up to the sand blasting too. You would think powdercoat would be tough, but riding in the sand can dull it out quickly, especially if you follow closely behind people with paddles.

I think this thing is going to be spectacular. I'll be watching this one.

I've been debating doing something like this with mine. Mine is pretty clean and nearly all original. I want to mod it like crazy, but at the same time, I'd hate to molest a really good example of a nice original R. I'm torn.

I almost wish it would've been more of a beater when I bought it, then this wouldn't be so hard.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The project was put on hold for a little while because my wife & I are in the process of buying a new house. In addition, I've been recovering from a second shoulder surgery :( and it feels like the doctor got it right this time :D . I should be ready to ride after May 1st. Anyway, the project is back under way and hopefully I can take advantage of the special pricing from BVC Racing.

any more updates man???

I've been slacking a little bit, but I've also had to put the project on hold for a short time. My wife & I are building a new home and we needed to save up a little bit of extra cash. I will get back on track this Friday!

After a few months of slacking, I've made a little progress on my R. I just ordered a set of red Laker plastics, and a bunch of the little items needed to get this thing back together. I will probably be selling the stock plastics once the new ones come in, and I now have a spare Duncan chrome bumper. The spare is not in perfect condition, it has a few small dings. I'll post them up in the for sale section soon.

My new Laker plastics just came in last night (see below). I'm planning on adding a set of stock 250R tank graphics, and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of graphic to put on the hood to make it stand out. Then, I think I'm going with a carbon fiber tank cover and carbon fiber radiator shrouds to tie everything together.

Yeah, that would have been a nice little touch. I'm not too worried about it though, I've never had any frame problems with any of my wheelers. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've jumped the hell out of my YFZ with no issues. We'll see how it holds up.

Do you still have that spare Duncan Bumper?
