I AM THINKING OF PUTTING A CR500 ENGINE IN 86 250R FRAME, I CRASHED MY CR500 (BENT THE FRAME AT THE HEAD BAD!!!) SO ITS JUNK AND I HAVE A COMPLETE ROLLING 250R CHASSIS I AM DOING SOME RESEARCE BEFORE I TEAR INTO THIS ENDEAVOR SO ANY ADVICE GOOD BAD OR UGLY WOULD HELP THANKS TO ANYONE IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

It can be done. It has been done! the vibration is the problem for most people! As far as it fitting in the frame its not really a problem. PM siderbox he ehas one and he could help with some questions.

Sell the 500 and buy a 250r lower and a puma upper.
Ok with that out of the way.
The 500 in a trx frame is fun but a bit of a pain the a$$.
There is a list of things that needs to been known about the direction you want to go, how you want it to end up.
But it could end up looking something like this if you wanted.

you cannot put enough anti-vibe mounts on the bike to get the vibs to stop braking things, the CR500 is not counter-balanced and has a ton of harmonic problems in a quad frame, they ussually crack the frames or destroy pipes. I have one in a ATC 250R and love it, but in a quad they have major problems holding together, my biggest suggestion is rubber mount the WHOLE pipe system, let it all be on rubber mounts so that it will take some of the punishment, also on the frame mounts I have a customer who rubber mounted the mounts on both sides, So he did rubber between the mount and the case, and rubber between the mount and the frame, it was Significantly less shaky then others I have ridden, but its ALOT more shaky then any 250R you have ever ridden

If I were you guys, I would put on a Puma instead of dealing so much with making a CR500 motor fit. I could imagine the vibration issues ... I used to have an 86 CR500 and that sucker mean.

I was thinking of getting back on an R but I found a really good deal on a CR500 so I just might get back on a CR500 for now. I'm waiting for the right R to come by...

Riding it i could take the vibrations, But after every race i would be missing a-arm nuts and such. Even with the lock nuts and locktight it would still vibrate loose. I made all rubberized motor mounts just like how a banshee is.

I've lost my fair share of nuts and bolts too.
The latest one is the sprocket bolt. That made me pucker when I saw that one.
That sealed the deal...I'll be safety wiring everything this winter.

Nice looking ride NOS
