You got the right Idea....stick to Honda OEM bearings. If you use a beairng puller, make sure you replace all the bearings as the puller will ruin the inner races and balls or needles.

Carlos
This is not true. The puller does not ruin the inner race of ANY of the bearings... Including the shift drum needle bearing. I used the puller on my entire bottom and and did not ruin any bearings. I replaced every single one with OEM, however it didn't ruin the old ones.

WOW...."not true", really? Not going to argue, however; I will explain why a puller ruins the inner race on ALL Bearings. Once you pull bearings, the very action of sliding a weight and impacting the Balls or Needles against the inner races 'dings' the inner races and creates tiny pin ball marks at every point a ball 'smacks the inner race. Once the inner races are dinged, the balls now will ride over an imperfect, dinged inner race. This is the very reason ALL bearing manufactures will suggest you don't reuse ANY bearing that has been removed with a bearing puller.

If you are going to re-use bearings, they should be removed by heating the cases and not pulling the bearings, this goes for the Drum needle bearing as well. The Honda Drum needle bearing tool removes the needle bearing by not pulling or dinging the needles.

Again, not arguing, just pointing out how bearings a ruined when using a bearing puller.
