o ring is worth the cost. They last WAY longer than a non o ring chain, and there is no power loss.

i buy into the non o-rings being easier to spin and have quite a bit less resitance especially at higher speeds. if you are trying to speeze every las ounce of acceleration out of your machine it makes sense to me that the non o's would have a little advantage.

that is true only for a very short period of time, like 10 minutes. the non o-ring chains fill up with dirt in the short term, and rust and corrosion in the long term. an o-ring chain has lubricants locked into the chain, and dirt and grime blocked out. keeping the chain lubricated and reducing friction.
i suppose what type of riding conditions you ride in best depics what type chain one should use. i spend 80% of my riding in creek beds and sand bars. i've used o-ring and non o-ring chains. both kept clean and allways lubed but have had best results using the non o-ring simply because after awhile the sand and grit chews up the o-rings and slings em off from the churning that takes place in the crossings. when you start loosing the o-rings you develope side to side slack which is worse the pin tolerance slack.
its all about type of riding ,lookin for the most power,quality of chain from get go,...& of coarse maintenance
the guys that dont do good maintenance will always have chains that wear out fast
keeping the chain lubed before during after is key here & cleaning often
IMO the non O ring is the way to go unless your extremely lazy ..then you will pay for more chains often..
o ring chain do create more friction & reduces power if not clean & maintenanced well !

hey would non o-ring chains stretch faster than the o-ring counter parts??

I run a non o-ring..bought it from Lost Creek..Ken..I believe thats his name...anyway I asked him and he said that the non-ring is better for racing. I took his advise to heart because he couldv'e just told me the o-ring was better to get more money from me.

I can find articles that say O-ring chains are better, I can find articles that say standard chains are better, heck I can find articles that say the moon is made out of cheese. In my experience and application o-ring chains last way longer. . I can go through about 3-4 CS sprockets, and 2 rear sprockets on one O-ring chain. Ive had standard chains barely last a day. I certainly believe there are conditions where standard chains work better. So, what Im trying to say is there is no deffintate answer, the best advice would be to try each and see what works best for your application.
