With all of the support from bdtm and the member's from .net i couldn't build my son's R without painting it.I would hate to put the beautifull wurk's 5 pipe and 330pv motor in a dull scratched frame.i decided to use my spare frame instead of pulling either of our R's apart.I had alittle welding to do but not much.Radiator shroud mount's and rear rezzy mount.i had just enought paint and clear leftover from this winter's build to spray it.

I have to wait atleast a day to let it dry.then i will start pulling his apart and building this one.

THANK'S BDTM AND TRX250R.NET FOR THE SUPPORT!!!!

You really need to gusset your frames if your going to be using stock ones for MX. But it does look great. Cant wait to see the final product.

Looks good Opel, I bet your son is excited!

While tig is probably the best, nothing wrong with mig. All the gusset kits I have ever had installed (1 oem 250R frame, 3 oem 450R frames.) have been mig welded, never an issue. One of those 450R frames has a very comprehensive kit on it and it has thousands of race miles on it, only had one additional crack in that time, and I would bet that had more to do with me cart wheeling the quad at 5th gear pinned. If you do mig, just make after you weld one gusset in, weld the next in at the opposite end of the frame and let the frame cool some between welds. I wouldn't hesitate to have another gusset kit mig welded.

Your right d berg. Still for control and overall bite i like it best. I say this because ive done alot of both and tig always gets the upper hand. But a seasoned mig operater and you can never go wrong. Preference for me.

Lookin tight oppie.

I was planning on having mine welded where I work, we only have mig welders. I work on machine shop side but a friend in the weld shop is gonna do it. I would think to tack all the gussets in place first and then weld them in with cooling time in between.

the part i shouldn't tell anyone is i messed up with the paint..i didn't have enough activator for the base coat.it's not drying!!!!the clear is but that doesn't help.i should have stopped and drove the 8o mile's to get some but i didn't.i worked on it all day in the sun to try and cure it."yeah it sucked"hopefully it will, but i'm not sure.

What i do know is the suspencion and motor should make up for the look's.if i have too,i will do another thrash and get it right for next week.....i don't need sleep"lol"!!

didn't get much done axcept work done at the shop.the motor arrived just in time for me to get it unpacked, and take some pics.then it was off to fooball.it was his first varsity start and he is just in 10th grade."yep they won!!!!"i got home and found a plug that will work for the stator wire's and now i'm just going to relax and thrash tomorrow.i might get it set in the frame if he feel's up to it when he get's home"mom's picking him up".if not i will get it in there in the morning!

thank's again for all who helped!!

it's been a long week.got the motor in and running 10 minute's before we had to leave.Got to the track with alot still left to do.spent the first hour+trying to get it jetted in.

with the help from carlos we got it running good enough..i then still had to tape up the wiring, bolt the plastic on,clean, etc.he took it out for practice and really took it easy.

i changed front sprocket form 13 to a 14.

first moto he missed a shift on the holeshot and ended up 2nd place...moto 2 he got first place, but they took it away because the flagger ran 5 lap's instead of 4.he waited to pass till the white flag...he was stoked then pissed because he got 2nd.

oh well there is alway's next week...hopefully we will get it tuned spot-on this week and put on a great show.

all i have to say is thank's carlos for putting up with the 10+call's yesterday! If it wasn't for you,BDT,and .net this weekend would have been very dissapointing running the old motor.
