Picked this up a few days ago. Left side case was busted up pretty good from a chain mishap. Picked up a excellent condition left side case from a friend and having it installed now. Needs some cleaning up and tlc but for what I've got in it I won't complain. The top end has less than 10hrs on it, new clutch, new silencer, clutch cable and the guy threw in a case saver and chain he bought after busting the case.

Great score! a little SOS pad work, a little magic eraser pad work, and some additional "elbow grease" she'll come right around. Forgot to mention "SUPER CLEAN" an over the counter inexpensive/very effective de-greaser sold at most all stores, comes in a "barney" purple bottle. Biodegradable to boot......

No progress.....ugh. The left case half I scored is no good. Had a bunch of weld repair done around the crank which I'm assuming warped the case cause it's been decked .030. On the hunt for another case half.

Ok. Near Beach Island. I use to haul outta the Kimberly Clark plant years ago. Just thought if you were closer we could ride or if you needed any parts my mechanic has a stash but we're too far apart
That sucks your not closer, not too many around here ride the old 2 strokes. They learn to appreciate them when your wear out their 400's-haha

Nothing much to add.......waiting on bearings and seals to get here this week so I can get the engine back together. Lots of drama with the shit left case half that was suppose to be pristine. It had some internal weld repair done around the crank and was machined back down. Who ever repaired it did a jam up job until they decked the case half .030. I got a good set of cases on here for not much more than I paid for the case half so everything worked out. Just anxious to ride it.

Today was one of those days......I tried to get something done on the 250 this morning. Got the crank bearing, seals and crank installed in the left case after a fight. First I ran out of propane while heating the case. Didnt get hot enough so the bearing stuck halfway so to the press it went. Starting pulling the crank in with the installer and wasn't paying attention that the crank rotated a little and the rod was on hanging over the case half.......hopefully I didn't bend the rod or screw up the rod bearing. I figured it would be best to stop while I was ahead and try again tomorrow.
