Sorry for the swearing, and Im not selling out for a banshee. Beat me on one ain sl you want but Im die hard R, I was being sarcastic. I KNOW there is always someone faster, I KNOW its rider, and I KNOW its power to the ground. Ive been ridding sense 1979. Raced mc for 6 years, had an R for the last 14 years. I know my way around. That being said Im not trying to be THE fastest, there is no such thing. But I am able to play (money wise) FINALLY with some real power and I asked a very simple question and it started a feud!!! If you were to ask me "what cylinder can you put on an R to level the field as far as Banshee's go?" I would have said "my 350 has smoked all the banshees Ive ran except the all out alcohol drag banshee". And bam! you move on to the next guys opinion. But not on here, its gotta be all super complicated and confusing when a short simple passive answer would have been just fine. We are supposed to be a group, not enemies, I dont understand why everything has to be a p&ssing match.
X2....
I had planned on getting my next engine set up from you, but I have been informed on this forum that a stock cylinder/stroke ported banshee on race gas can make more power than-and I quote, "ANY'' single cylinder R engine. So I guess I'll scrap the R when it blows and build a banshee.
A very good reason why Drag Racing as well as most forms of racing have displacement classes, and In events like ATV Drag Racing you have classes seperated by the number of cylinders as well, like Single cylinder, Twins and Triples. In equal displacements like a Honda Single cylinder vs a Twin or Triple, even if the total displacenet was the same, the advatage goes to the Twin or Triple, the Single cylinder would have a big disadvantage, specially Iin straight line racing.

On an MX type track, Woods, or tight & controlling type racing (NOT straight line), the bigger, heavier multiple cylinders begin and eventually loose the advantage they had in a Drag Racing venue.

Keep your 'R', it is a way better machine than a Banshee ever was or could be, even if the Banshee is faster in certain circumstances.

Everything has a time & place it is at its best, but thats not everyday at the same time.

Been a lot of kids that raced, was more dedicated to the sport & somewhat of a better rider than some of the top Pro riders & for several years I might add, until they found out what was under a skirt tail, then all those years racing & learning & money spent on a quad went right down the drain.
What was learned during that process, how foolish a parent can be, spending money on their kid or kids, for them to have the best quad money can buy, to put them in first place & winning races. Not speaking about anybody but myself, yes I wore those shoes.

Neil, a lot of use wore those same shoes... but truth be told, if I could go back Id probably still do the same thing... those are the times that I know ill never forget, or ever want to forget

Yeah, I know what your saying & would probably do the same again myself.
We do for our kids, in hopes of being with them more than normal, so that we can keep an eye on them as they grow to keep them out of trouble, but sometimes you do all you can & trouble "will find them" & like waste all you've tried to do.
Its our job though to see that through, not just turn them loose & free to do as they want.

I have a banshee and my love the R. I use the Banshee as a backup. My retro R is my passion and love. All I can say is it is user choice. I love the R way better than the banshee yet the banshee is a blast to ride. The R suits my style. Fast controlled corners and a s%it load of power. But gettin on the banshee once in a wile is a change of pace and a different ride and skill set. Well thats till last weekend when my buddy's brand new motor took a crap and he borrowed my backup Banshee and seized the piston that had only 5 hrs. on it. Time to break it down and have it ready for Silver Lake in July.

Yup....not everyone turns down the same road or finds the correct path, we all do our best to guide our kids, family correctly....the rest is out of our hands.

Like Barry alluded to....our past defines who we are, and shapes our character going forward.
