Anyone know if a stock 250r rear shock will bolt up and work on a 2005 450r stock rear end? I need a shock with a remote reservoir and I dont want to buy anything aftermarket yet. Thanks.

I have the stock shock for the 450. My problem is the huge piggyback reservoir on it is in the way of my setup. I need a shock without a piggyback so I can finish modifying my frame without buying an aftermarket shock. Thanks

people have gotten around the reservoir issue, ive been told and i saw, looked like they had modded the air box, i ddint see any cutting or anything
but for it to work right you need a azis etc 450r length revalved on a GTT link etc.

I did put s LSR link with an elka stage 3 for an 06 up 450r and it rode pretty good , you could feel it needed revalved or something but it was good , lots better than stock.

but i know GTT uses an 05 link and 05 swingarm on the setup

lol thanks trx88, basicially what im wondering is if it will bolt right up.

Im building a hybrid based off of a 450r chassis and can absolutly not have a shock with a piggyback reservoir. All im trying to do is get a shock without it that will work so I can finish my frame and test it without spending a grand on a rear shock that I could possibly ruin. Thanks

It will not just bolt up. The top and bottom mounts on the 250R are quite a bit wider then the 450R. As 05450R also said, the bottom bolt on the 250R is 12 or 14 mm, while the 450R is 10 mm. Also, I know the lengths are different, I just can't remember by how much. Will require a little creativity to get a 250R shock on a 450R.
