I am new to the TRX250R but not new to 2 strokes. I have been riding since I was 6 I am now 38. I traded my 2000 Aprilia RSV Mille that I never used for an 86 TRX250R. Just like most stories it was supposed to have a 6 month old top end and was fresh ready to go. I should have known better. I am a retired mechanic by trade and should have checked it out better but I was trusting and blinded by the bike. The bike ran and started first kick. No noises but I noticed it was low on coolant. The inner waterpump seal was bad and the motor had water in the oil. I also used my boroscope and the top end looked ok. But it was shot when I took it apart. What was supposed to be a 300 was a 350. It has the complete CT racing 350 kit including exhaust and carb. I sent the top end back to CT racing and found out it was an antique. It was number 800 of now 6000. Allen told me it was built in 1996. It has never been bored since he touched it. The only good news I have is the bottom end of the motor has been rebuilt. It looks like the counter balancer took the block out. The right side is welded and the left side has been replaced. Is has all new bearings and a ProX rod. Here are some pics and specs on the bike:

The day I brought it home. 400Ex body, Laeger extended swing arm, Laeger extended A-arms, TCS suspension, CT Racing 350 kit, chrome brake calipers, braided brake hoses, lots of polished stuff, and lots more.

So my next projects are to get it running and get the headlights working.

Thanks guys, it sucks I have to rebuild the top end but everytime I turn around I find more aftermarket parts. I am not sure what axle is in it. It is chrome though. Someone spent a ton of money on this bike. Everything is powdercoated or polished.I should have it back up and running after christmas.

That swinger looks to be stock just powdered, bike looks nice though bud and nice snap on tool box. I have a krl I'm on my fourth upgrade and i need to do it again, but the trailer is to small to go bigger. When I actually get a big pole barn or a big garage I will get a big one.

I have upgraded tool boxes many times. I have the other side locker but my garage is not big enough.Since my wife got a great job and told me to stay home to watch the kids I won't need an upgrade for a while. It has become a mess. What is the stock length of the 86 swing arm? The one on the bike measures 17.5 center to center.

Well I finally got my jug back from CT Racing. They went with a 77.94 L.A. Sleeve piston. I went with an ESR head with a pump gas dome and new clutch, billet water pump cover. I am waiting on a new intake. The stock one couldn't take the bigger carb and split. I also had to replace the bearings in the carrier in the swingarm. I should have it back up and running this weekend.

The antique cylinder is what most are still running nowadays. A 2nd bore 350 still has a few more bores left. That motor is a great score. I have a couple just like it. Lots of power. Hope you are happy with it. Everyone I know with a 350 are all smiles. Take your time breaking in the new piston. Most of us are running the updated 2001 cr 250 ignition with these big bores. You will appreciate the no kick back feature.

Well I nearly finished it today. I installed a Clarke 4 gallon trx tank. I have the 400ex plastics pretty close to fitting around it. I also had to trim the seat. It looks ok. I also got it running. I started and let it idle for 5 minutes. I was able to take it slowly down the road. Runs like crap. I puled the carb and have it soaking in dip. I will try to finish breaking it in tomorrow.

I'm curious about those Duro's too. I've read that they're designed for motocross and TT which I don't understand. I like the look of them and I'd like to get a set I just don't know how they'd do on an mx track. I ride mostly woods and won't really come out if it's muddy so I think I'd be fine there but if I end up getting on the track they might not work out too well. Once you get some ride time on them can you let me know what you thought?
