APT | SmartCarb®

Has anyone else seen this yet? It looks to be promising. There is some talk about it on two stroke motocross. There is also a guy who tested it on the Gas Gas forum who is singing it's praises. Best part.....no jets!

It is somewhat similar to a Lectron, but the rabbit hole goes much deeper than that. I have been doing alot of digging on this topic over at gas gas forum and ktm forum. So far, one guys on the gas gas forum has tested it and really likes it. Here is a clip of a pro mx'er that tested it. Listen to the motor on this bike. It sounds very crisp and smooth.

Several of the guys on ktmtalk forum and twostrokemotocross forum have ordered one, so we should be getting some more reviews soon.

I also sent APT an email asking about fitment for a 250R and am awaiting a response.

i prefer my lectron over my PWK and PJ, but lectron seems to drop the ball with fine tuning issues. i tested the limits of a lectron carb and that thing will run super rich and not burn down a motor when too lean. if APT takes the same technology and adresses a few shortcomings it will be a success.

I spoke with one of the owners at APT yesterday afternoon. I found out some helpful information from him. They do have a carb setup that will fit our 250Rs. Their carb is the same height and width as a PWK. The only difference is it is 3/4" longer from opening to opening. The only adjustment on the carb is for idle and low speed fine tuning. If I understand him correctly, he said that the carb could never run lean enough to burn up a piston. They will have some independent companies releasing testing feedback soon. He also said that several dirt bike magazines will be releasing side by side comparison testing against PWK and EFI and DI in the spring.

That is true IF you have the correct metering rod.
And how many different styles, lengths and tapersof the metering rod have the produced so far? its impossible to have a one size fits all, no adjustment ever type of carb.

Snowmobile companies have had self adjusting carbs for years by regulating float bowl pressure. What the range of compensation is idk. If they run them up Pikes Peak that's a significant elevation change.

Any updates yet on these carbs?

I still haven't found any info on someone who has tried it on a two stroke quad yet, but I have heard quite a bit of testimonies of guys who have been loving them on their two stroke bikes. I wasn't able to test one myself. They ran out of test carbs before I could get my hands on one.
