I am new to the trx 2cylinder strokes and kick starts. I have had a real hard time trying to get it started. I tried for over an hour and got it once. I am using the ball right under my big toe but i cant get it started i can hear it turn over and want to start but it doesnt want to stay running . It has the stock ignition as far as i know and has a brand new spark plug. It is running just a tad rich but hardly at all. So i am looking for ideas on what to try to have better success at getting it started. Thanks

Fresh fuel, clean air filter, clean out carb if fuel has been sitting in it for more than a couple months, check what your jetting is while your in there, start with air screw at 1 1/2 turns out from seated, start with a plug in the #8 heat range, gap the plug at .020 and it should start if there are no mechanical or electrical gremlins.

I would do a compression test to see where it's at, and check your reeds and make sure you are getting good spark. You need to kick the bike over at 1200 rpm I believe before she will spark, usually helps to have someone help when checking for spark

what carb?
what settings:
which pilot jet?
Air screw location (how many turns)
what needle? what needle clip location?
what main jet?

Reeds in good condition? (sealing completely no air gap or chips?)

Stock carb. Stock needle. Clip is in the middle. Screw 1.5 turns. Not sure on other jets but piolit is 47 but is on the border of being 45. Reeds are in ok condition

I know this is REALLY remedial but when i got my first "R" 20 years ago at 16 i went to walmart and got Weedeater premix... Laugh it up i know you are!! But i didnt know at the time it needs a specific high performance oil. It didnt start either and would everyonce in a while it would turn over for a second and die. What oil premix are you using?
