no i take that back the motor mount was the problem,

so that broken motor mount is what held the gap between the cases and the swingarm to articulate.

so with that broken and the tension from the chain it pulled the motor in the chassis to take up the slack which touched the swingarm to the cases.

the tighter the chain the more pressure it put.

I see LSR frames here being used, but I am a trail rider not a racer to be honest. What would be a good solid replacement for the frame, OEM off ebay? member here?
Also engine options, does anybody have a picture of the cases by the swinger so I can identify what it should look like please? My swinger is alumn and I will post pictures of it later for you np.

With the +2 front arms what length shocks do you need to purchase? I am looking into frame options today-is there a member selling anything here currently you guys know about? I am also confused as well with the front arms, it appears the 86-87 ball joints are replaceable on the top arms, and the 88 or at least these arms I removed are not-is there a big difference with the 86-87 arms to the 88 arms? I see a ton of 86-87 arms for sale, none in the 88 year though. Ae they the same?

what is the difference between a 87 and a 88 frame? Here is one off Ebay is this a member here? How can 1 tell if the thing is bent? I noticed 1 thing, on my frame the footpeg stud is welded onto the frame, this frame it is bolted, is mine wrong and it should not be welded? I can omagine mine is wrong as I have seen this before on ATC frames.

Honda 250R 1987 OEM Frame Chassis w/paperwork TRX250R 250R TRX | eBay

1988 frame is a pro peg meaning pegs use a rivet to mount and 1987 his a non pro peg meaning pegs are bolted on. But also be aware the 87 swing arm will also be different and will not interchange with the 88 or 89 trx. Most of the rubber mounts used to mount plastic are still sold thru Honda.
I just want to inspire you by sending you this pic my 1988 TRX 250R. I bought this in 2009 for $1600 and everything was wrong with this but luckily motor was good so I thought, and at the time Honda was still making wiring harness and light switch old one was butchered beyond belief. frame was cracked headlight was broken tires were bad it was a complete mess. But thanks to my spare TRX 450R spare parts that I saved money, grab bar, front bumper, handlebars rims and tires and saved money with those few items and headlight was used from a TRX 300EX. Had to buy a rock hard seat foam from ceet and seat cover was bought from a fabric store and ask for marine grade vinyl and you will be shocked at so many colors and had upholstery shop do the install $30. everything else that could be saved was powder coated or chrome plated back to life don't give up on project take your time and do it right and no short cuts at the end you will be more than happy at something you did by yourself. Good luck and if you have any issues let me know so I can help you out.

Thanks for the reply and picture, that project looks great to say the least! I also noticed it appears the rear engine mount on the 87 is different then a 88 as well?
What trx 450 parts are interchangeable with the 88 trx 250?

that is an 89 swingarm, picture was decieving.

there should be a gap between the swingarm and the cases

this is an 86-87 style it uses an articulating H style mount that the swingarm bolt goes through the middle of

peg differences here

stock there are no front mounts, what they did is weld in Pro peg front mounts to run nerf bars

Wow thanks for the great information! So at least I have figured a bunch of stuff out. I have a 89 swinger, the engine will work with my frame, I cannot use a 87 frame as I have the pro peg style on mine. I think a member here 250rtrikes has a store on Ebay and he has a lot of the seals, bearings I need for the swinger, front spindles and such. So, I can send the engine out for a rebuild, and I can start to order needle bearings, seals,ETC for the 89 swinger. I am sure that the engine shifted due to indeed that mount being broken. My biggest issue really has vome down to this frame and the front arms and such.I would love to just replace this 1 if I can.Is there a member selling 1 here by chance?

the allballz swingarm kits are the best non-oem bearing kit ive found so far. comes with all the swingarm bearings. and seals
linkage rebuild is different.

250rtrikes is Acecarlos aka BDT who also carries allballz and OEM stuff

there are some good used frames out there. just keep an eye out 88-89 generally go a tad bit higher then 86-87

going to an 87 frame just means different pegs, rear motor mount and different rear swinger.

front arms stock is strong but the ball joints are not rebuildable.

Stupid question, but can you go to 86-87 front arms on a 88 frame by chance?I see the top arms you can replace the ends, 88 you cannot(or at least thes arms I have you cannot).

the wealth of knowlegde that's given here is priceless!
Tell me about it! without the help I would be lost! Thanks for the great advice, PM'S and tech. I am taking my frame to my fab guy he wants to see if it can be fixed and the gusset kit welded in as well that I purchased off a member here. I figured it can't hurt to let him try right? I am still searching for a frame. Oh I finally got the radiator out of the frame, was tricky and I was much more relaxed then the other day. I have got a line on a pile of OEM parts from a supplier of mine I use for my FL400R PILOTS, hoping he can come through with much needed items at a great price.

Most of us have a good stock pile of parts so if there something specific your looking for just shout out
