Im looking to get another carb for my 88 and am unsure on which to go with. I know i can set up any for what i need but which is most common, I see alot of 38 and 39 pwks on mx quads so i may be leaning that way but i just ran into a deal on a PWK 36 A/S. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

IMHO, the 38 won't be too much for a well tuned stock cylinder. I was running the 38 PWK/AS on a basically stock cylinder and it ran quite well. I was running a CR head gasket, reeds, FMF Fatty exhaust and bored 1.25mm over... Thats it. Performed much better than the old 34mm roundslide.

Yes, very good low-end and mid-range. But topend power signed off like you threw a lightswitch. I mean, it did pull well but you could definitely feel the power kind of drop off when getting into the higher end. Oh, and I was running a reed spacer too... Forgot to mention that in my other post..

when i had my +4mm stroker on stock cylinder i had a 39mm pwk the bottom very bottom lacked but it had loads of mid and topend with the trx5 pipe.

You can't go wrong with a 38MM...it makes for a great MX carb with very good low-mid range responce on a 250R, plus; if later down the road you want more 'carb', just get the 38Mm bored to 39Mm or 40.50MM.

agree

you think that could possibly be a lack of port work to flow the extra air fuel mixture you are sending in?
I think that could very well be the case. I never did get the stock cylinder ported.

I have another '85 ATC awaiting resto-mod as funds allow. It was the very same ATC I had back in high school in the mid 1990's only not in nearly as good of shape as it was in when I sold it in '97. My plan for that is to get one of my stock clyinders ported by Carlos or Neil, 38mm PWK/AS, FMF exhaust with a good reedblock.

My wife has recently informed me that she wants me to fix that trike up for HER to ride lol :D! So, I guess I might not want to go too awful nuts with it. I guess her Z400 isn't quite peppy enough for her..

I ran a all stock atc everything stock except the 38 mm pwk and v force reeds. It worked great and my fuelusage stayed the same too. I jetted it and never had to mess with idle, or the air screw like with the stock 34mm carbs.
