Hey guys I'm moving this build over here from the other place.
I'll start out by saying hey my name is Darren and I have had this 250r for about 6 to 7 years. The cool thing is I am the second owner and its been in my family since 1987. My late uncle was the original owner of this 87 and my parents co-signed to help him buy it brand new from the dealership. My dad and my uncle were huge into 250rs back in the day, and they were always racing each other at the dunes seeing who was faster. I happen to acquire this and its been my toy ever since his passing. I've always been a yamaha guy growing up, and now I have kicked that side to the curb and have fallen in love with the 250r.
Ill spare you guys a ton of pics, and just show the gradual transformation and current state.
When I got it

Then I bought a used 310 complete motor and plastic an such.

Then a few other changes

Then it sat for a few years, and the frame started showing its age so I had a pumashine gusset kit installed and powder coated.

And its current state.

My suggestion to save the pipe, regardless of manufacture, isolate and run a rubber mount, either OEM or aftermarket. Fab the needed spacer & washers to make it work. Lot less stress on the pipe joints, and avoids pipe cracking at the mount locations.

The one shown in the picture is a BDT Billet Rubberized Mount Anodized Black...basically an OEM version in Billet.

As an FYI; you don't need the upper mount as long as the rest of the mounts are in place. For example; none of the BDT WURKS Pipes use an upper mount, they do use the rest of the OEM mounts. Reason being the upper mount causes more issues than its worth on aftermarket pipes, specially in fitment and cracking.

Finally an update. Will be doing a ton of dirt riding this year, so I opted to get some dwt bead locks and cheapy tires for the 250. Waiting on Arlan to call back so I can schedule a day to drop off my R for a hpi ignition, dyno & tune. Patiently waiting. It's almost ready
