I want to start by making it known that this is not a 250r motor, I’m finishing up a Tecate 4 build right now. I know they are a bit more complicating but I’ve have the motor simplified. The power valves are blocked off so essentially it’s like a regular 250 motor without power valves. My cylinder is bored and brings my CC up to almost 300. When it’s sits and idles it vibrates like crazy. Like loosens the motor mount bolt. I’ve checked the counterbalanced and it is timed perfect with the crank. My question is does anyone know a solution to fix this issue as I’m assuming the weight of the bigger piston is throwing it out of balance, has anyone ever heard of this happening on a 2 stroke engine?

In all honesty I came to the 250r page because all the problems I’ve had before there’s a lot of smart, great guys on this page who have always lead me down the right path and helped solve the problem. I still have all my R’s that I ride most of the time, just wanted to work on something different for a change lol

I’ve had 2 Tecate 4’s, one that I pieced together years ago and it ran perfect and the other was 99% complete and was only missing the plastic side panels and a few parts on the power valves -which I could never figure out and it ran so rough. I got rid of both because I felt more comfortable on the R but they were definitely cool to have, just not enough support and any parts are super hard to find and when found were expensive. Off-roadinnovation.com was the only place I could get hard to find parts, and the owner definitely knows his Tecates and is willing to help over the phone. They are bad ass looking quads with the flip up headlight but they sit a little high for me so I sold the 2nd one after the hassle of finding parts outweighed the benefit of the finished product’s ride/handling. They both fetched top dollar though, being they are literally almost impossible to find now-a-day’s. I think BDT was messing around with Kawi’s recently too, maybe check in with them. Those motors really do have more power over the Honda 250 stock with huge potential with some work. There are about 2-3 Tecate 3’s for sale in my area but have paint to remove and missing brakes, etc.
