I'm seriously looking at this one to buy he 3000 but tells me his brother gave it to him before he joined the service. So he posted it with that price becuse all the other listings were similar. He rides bike and not quads. I was thinking of offering 1500, what do you guys think..

It looks to be in good shape and if you can get it for $1500 that a pretty good deal, but if your wanting to race it your going to have to spend a good amount to get it ready.

thanks guys sorry for not letting you all know what my intentions are with it. I'm not going to race just trail ride and some sand duty. Nothing to serious. I miss my banshee I sold and what a replacement 250r is were its at for 2 stroke power. My banshee was great but crap on the trail. I have a bunch more pics I'm loading for you all now..

you think so.. He claims it was rebuilt recently but I was going to run a comp test to make sure. What should it be 175psi maybe more?? On my banshee it was 175 per cylinder, is this true for a single cylinder? He says it's ported by a local shop that engraved the cylinder on the outside.

looks to be a good buy to me ghost. i dont believe i'd give 3k tho as mentioned, most i'd give is 2k. it's mostly all orig cept for odd en ends. the compression should be about 170 +/- 10lbs depending on the head gasket configuration used. B)

i say get it. you'll regret if ya dont.

well if i was selling something for $3000 and you offered me $1500 you'd be told to leave! and sounds suspecious that his brother just gave it to him... i've heard a few stories about people selling family members vehicles for quick cash when they're gone! see if there's a title and who's name it's in, and get a notarized bill of sale with his full name, address, bike VIN, and anything else you can possible think of so that when his bro returns he can't say you stole it.

do all of that and try to have a witness or two also sign off on the bill of sale.

I would check the market & availability of R's in this shape ..mostly stock & needing lots of overdue maintenance ..people can claim anything they want or think of but w/o receipts or a paper trail I beleive non of it !
check around & compare then decide how bad you want it ..or another
or just dive into at his lowest price he gives ya ...either way you aint getting out too cheap w/a good machine
that one looks about average for someone who just rode it & didnt care about looks ,did he care about reliablilty & performance ?
..is the frame painted or powercoated ..is the plastic good or old & brittle ?
brakes working ? swingarm & a arms bushing good or sloppy ..? if not ..it all costs $'s !!
IMO it needs to be torn down checked over &/or reworked to be what I would consider a reliable machine

Hey guys bad news.. Thursday evening I tore the ligiments in my right ankle during PT!!! AAARRRGGGHH!! So after 4 hours at the emergency room the doc says ro riding for 4 weeks!! I made contact with the guy about the above 250r. Gave him my price range 1500, 2000. He was very curtious and receptive. He mentioned 2200. You guys think this is a a fair price? I was completely up front and told him were/how I researched that price. I asked him to check this site out and some others.. I really have a good fealing about this dude. No shaddyness or lack of respect from him. He is straight up and honest in my IMO. That makes a diffrenence to me with deals.. Honor means alot in my book. So as I promissed this is the update. Probably won't get to see it untill Monday or late next week. Thanks guys

i deffently wouldnt pay 2200, it is in good condition, but the 86/87s were heavy as shit compared to the 88/89, and that fmf is useless, id say the most i would pay is 1700, you asked for brutally honest, so thats what i gave you lol

theres not a huge difference in weight ..& the 86 frame is stroger !!

IMO 2200 is an OK price .but know you are going to have to work on it & spend $'s on it but all quads need work B)
more ideas
maybe point out some things you are concerned with & offer 2k
or tell some of these guys who say its too much to pay for it to show you another running R you can buy for 2k
