im doing a long rebuild on my R right now, and currently the plan is by the end of the winter, the engine will be a esr 310 pv, cr250 ignition, LRD standard bore pipe, 38mm tmx, and vf3s. So being the powerhungry person that i am, im still lookin for more power,so i was thinking about a stroker, ive heard that its alot more torque, but it also takes away rev speed, so which do you think would be better for mx, stroked or stock

Personally, I believe a stroker would be too hard to ride on an mx track, they are aweful torquey but others may chime in. In my opinion, I believe a stock stroke long rod is the best set-up for MX, especially if you are running a bigger bore or even a Pro-X.

I would leave the stock stroke. If you want more power, just go with a 330 instead.

I have a stroker in mine, but I have only had a chance to ride it in the dunes and snow. The power is a lot different. There is a lot more torque and it doesn't rev as fast. I think that would be great for the track. I am running stock ignition though, it may be a lot different with a cr ignition.
The stroker isn't as simple as it seems. I had to cut the cases for the rod to clear and I had to cut the bottom angle of my 88 piston. 86 pistons don't have that problem. Also you will have to mess with gaskets or cut your head or cylinder to get the proper squish back.
For competitive motocross, you may not want the cr ignition because it creates more wheel-spin.
Another thing, my sparks mx pipe did not see to work as well once I had the stroker in. My brother's SST seemed to give a lot more top end, but that isn't always good in motocross.
